~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

If y'all don't mind...

Maxy started limping on Thursday night... Barely noticable on his front left leg. It's been getting progressively worse rather than better. Today he just lays there and cries - won't walk on it at all. If you feel to compare his two legs/feet, everything feels fine. Josh seems to think he may have jammed or broke one of his toes? I am not sure, because you can apply pressure and move everything around all you want - he doesn't complain or anything. :confused3

He hasn't eaten anything today, and won't get up for treats - not even ice.

He is acting a lot like Ruf did when he got sick. :worried:

Josh is going to take him into the vet tomorrow while I am at work. If you don't mind saying a prayer or two - we would apreciate it. :lovestruc

D~

:grouphug: Oh no. Poor Max. I hope everything is fine.

Oh, and then, Josh also said he would go back to Disney if I would schedule him the Tom Petty Driving Experience every day of the trip... I told him that I would be more than happy to do that for him. :wizard: If it meant that he would go with us and be happy about it. :lovestruc

D~

:lmao: I did not know what was TPDE on FB :confused3 But now I know but it should have been RPDE:rolleyes1

But like I mentioned on FB we really love DVC and I love AKL because they have a few Value DVC Rooms. The Value Studios that you could get would take alot less points than the other Deluxe Studios and you barely noticed the smaller size of them.:goodvibes

DVC sounds so cool. We looked into it on our last trip because we ate lunch at AKV and chatted With the guy at the model at the beach club (???). I think my DH is just too cheap and would rather horde our money. LOL. I think if our kids were younger and we could take them it of school more easily it would be worth it for us.

I think that the Richard Petty thing is no longer at Disney. Based on the adds I have been seeing on the disboards and touring plans I think that Disney might have their own driving school and Richard Petty has his own somewhere else in Orlando. I think on our last trip the sign job longer said Richard Petty. Of course we noticed because my DH and my dad really think it wood be awesome.

Nini, I did not know your DH used to race cars, I guess that is good training for his current job. :driving:

Just checked on the Disney site...Richard Petty is still shown as being there...of course we all know how seldom Disney updates it site! (they sometimes don't update the hours of the parks for a couple of weeks after they are released.)

Yup... in the army he got hooked on drag racing while stationed in Hawaii. Then when we were at Ft Polk and then Ft Bliss he regularly raced on the dirt track. When he retired, he bought two different dirt track racers...but ended up selling them. With his hours he no longer has time to devote to a hobby!

D~ sorry to hear about Mr Max... hope it is nothing serious. Our last German Shepherd, Taz, used to jump off the back porch all the time...he was always hurting his leg...he never learned! (we have so far made sure our Max has not learned to jump off the back porch...)

Nini

So sorry to hear about Max. I hope the vet is able to fix him up!

OK, I think I am going crazy. I admit it. Richard Petty's website still shows they are at WDW, with a Mickey head on the track!

It seems like a great way (excuse) to get Josh to Disney...whatever it takes.

poor Max saying a prayer for him.

You reminded me I should take a picture of Daisy the Giant German Shepherd who is now larger than my 4 year old siberian husky.

First of all...my fingers are crossed for Mr. MM :worried: I hope everything is fine and it is just a sprain or something!

And DVC would be so amazing! Good luck with that ::yes::

Ok - here's the unique character bag! :thumbsup2

The one good thing about FB is I get to see your bags as you complete them!! Another fun bag!! I love the uniqueness of the characters!!

Great news on the trip being a go (wll contignent on that code) and for the other trips your family is going to get to take!!! Your all going to have a great time!!

Glad to see you are all caught up! You'll be waiting a while for the Super Secret project... I plan to reveal it mid/late-Oct. :surfweb:

Busy day yesterday... Never even made it to Valleyfair! :crazy2: We stopped at the mall on the way, and by the time I looked at the time - it was after lunch... And we had to leave Valleyfair by 2... So it just didn't make sense to go all the way there, to turn around and come home. :confused3

We had a nice dinner last night... Lasagna... we have pleanty of leftovers for tonight's dinner. :cool1:

Then, the jaw-dropping news of a lifetime... You all are NOT going to believe this... I am looking into DVC! :faint: Seriously... With all of the trips I have coming up, Josh told me to go ahead and look into it... :faint: Now, I doubt I will actually get to do it, but it does make good financial sense... And once it's paid for - it's actually very resonable, and I can totally see where it would pay for itself. :thumbsup2 But - you all know - I like to pay cash for things like this... So, I will have to see if it is something I can make work... Clearly, we would have to buy very small, and then add on as we go along.

Oh, and then, Josh also said he would go back to Disney if I would schedule him the Tom Petty Driving Experience every day of the trip... I told him that I would be more than happy to do that for him. :wizard: If it meant that he would go with us and be happy about it. :lovestruc

So, I have done some research... and Alli looked at our options with me this morning... She loves AKV, and I love VWL... I think Josh would love VWL too... Ideally, I would like to have 3 home resorts and cycle through one every 3 years. I would be happy with one, and have a guaranteed trip every 3 years though. :lovestruc

I wish I could find a dedicated website for VWL though... Kind of like the Poly and POFQ have... Does anyone know of such a thing?

OK - I better get to sewing my Super Secret project... I hope you all have a fantastic day!

D~

Ahhh DVC!! Now if I can get my DH on board to buy!!

If y'all don't mind...

Oh no! I hope everything turns out ok with poor Max.

I want to stay at the Gaylord as well! During Christmas time they offer great deals and the resort is so beautifully decorated.

How exciting about DVC! I love having ours. The nice thing is that depending where you stay you can get away with a studio so you don't have to use a lot of points. We are staying one night at AKV in November and that is where my SIL bought.

I know - the Gaylord looked gorgeous for Christmas!

I am just so frustrated with DVC... I really only want to purchase a small amount of points to get started with. I don't want to finanace them.

I am so stuck on which home resort would work for us...

I love the cozy-ness of AKV, and I know this sounds really dumb - but a bigger mirror over the vanity (Ummm... two teenaged dds - we could have an all out war over mirror sharing) - and I just really love the decor. However - I don't like the location, it just seems so far away from everything.

I love BWV for the location and the theme of the over all resort. The room decor seems so boring... And I can't find any mirror pictures of the studio rooms. The points for a week long stay in a studio are very appealing though, and having the home resort advantage to book those would be beneficial.

I love BCV too... Great location... Love the theme of the resort... The rooms are decorated nicely... There is a larger vanity mirror.

SSR and OKW... Love the look of OKW - but both resorts are so HUGE and so far away from everything... Love that there are two REAL beds - no pull out couch... Big vanity mirror, but it's inside the bathroom - so we'd all have to be in there while someone was showering. Love the weekly points value though.

So far OKW and AKV are winning. :confused3 It's all so complex.

I WILL say it made me chuckle and DH wants to do it someday too.

:thumbsup2

I wasn't actually surfing at church...I have it set so that I get an email whenever there is a post on a few of the TR that I follow. I got a buzz letting me know I had an email...so I had to check, since my son and daughter in law are traveling...(it makes the same sort of sound when there is a text) I had to make sure it wasn't from them with a problem...

But Miss B did ask me why I was smiling.... and she did give me a dirty look...I hate it when the daughter becomes the mother! LOL!

Ok - I will believe you. :rolleyes1 Yah - my dds think they are my mother occasionally too. :scared:

The MARC train goes from Union Station to downtown Baltimore. It stops just outside of Oriole Park at Camden Yards which is just a couple of blocks from the Inner Harbor.

I also recommend using the Metro while in DC. Its very easy to use and goes most everywhere you would want to visit. I do not recommend driving in Washington, unless you know where you are going. My cousins stayed at a Comfort Inn that was near the Air and Space Museum and were very satisfied with it.

Thank you! Everyone has told me not to drive in DC - so I guess we won't? LOL I guess I am just so used to driving everywhere that I can't imagine it being an inconvenience. Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

I'd definitely do this if it was the Tom Petty driving experience! LOL!

We stayed in studios twice at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. We really liked it. The kids were little then though. It was quite tight in the room with the sofa bed pulled out. The bed wasn't all that comfortable but the girls were very little so they didn't complain.

LOL

Well, I think, how we would work it is that 2 people would share the actual bed, and the person getting the pull out sofa would get it to themselves. :confused3 I know it would be tight, but we don't spend a lot of time in our room.

DVC sounds so cool. We looked into it on our last trip because we ate lunch at AKV and chatted With the guy at the model at the beach club (???). Nini, I did not know your DH used to race cars, I guess that is good training for his current job. :driving:

Yah - I am not sure what to do yet... I would like to start off very small with DVC... Ideally with a little over 50 pts... If I am careful and stay wisely, I could take a trip every so often... I would just have to find the perfect contract for me, and that might be the hard part?

We did look into the RPDE yesterday, Josh said it was $300 for 3 laps! Ouch... He can stay home and do laps with the lawn mower. :rolleyes1

:grouphug: Oh no. Poor Max. I hope everything is fine.

What is a value studio at AKV? I see on the points chart it's a very nice value! But can you tell me the difference? Do you have a crappy view with them?

Just checked on the Disney site...Richard Petty is still shown as being there...of course we all know how seldom Disney updates it site! (they sometimes don't update the hours of the parks for a couple of weeks after they are released.)

Thanks for all the info Nini!

It seems like a great way (excuse) to get Josh to Disney...whatever it takes.

We could have told you that... I suspected it in Charlotte, but I didn't want to say anything to upset you in person. But now that you are aware and admitting... Maybe you need to go visit Cheryl? popcorn::

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

poor Max saying a prayer for him.

You reminded me I should take a picture of Daisy the Giant German Shepherd who is now larger than my 4 year old siberian husky.

I think I asked you a couple of weeks ago how Miss Daisy was doing? I can't remember where it wast hat I asked you though? I would love to see recent pictures of her!

First of all...my fingers are crossed for Mr. MM :worried: I hope everything is fine and it is just a sprain or something!

And DVC would be so amazing! Good luck with that ::yes::

Thank you Suzie!

Thank you Sandra!

Poor Maxy! Hope he feels better soon!

Thanks Ruth.

Nothing interesting to report.

MM is still crying all the time... He is back to that piercing puppy bark too. :sad2: I know he is in a lot of pain.

I am hoping that Josh can get him in right away... If so, then I can go with. I am afraid he has a broken leg... If you feel very carefully, you can kind of feel a very small bone sticking out leading right up to his du claw (not sure if that's how it's spelled?).. His other leg isn't like that... So, I am not sure. It's just so frustrating, because if he broke his leg - it had to have happened somehow, and we just have no idea what he could have done or when?

I have to work at Target today... So, no sewing. I did finish the first portion of my Super Secret Project yesterday... But I have A LOT left to do! :scared: I just hope I am able to finish on time. :crazy2:

Have a great day, and I will update you all on MM as soon as I know anything.

D~

One thing to look at with DVC is to look at the transportation. We bought Blt thinking it would be awesome. It stinks in my opinion. I will say this is the one resort I find the rudest guests.

We bought Akv thinking it was dark and not our thing. It is. Our favorite. We actually discussed where to stay the one night before our cruise and we decided to try Jambo house.

I am SO JEALOUS that you are looking into DVC!!! :sad1: It is on our wish list for a few years out. A vast majority of the income from my job is going into paying for DD10 and DS to go to Christian school until 6th grade. ($800 a month :sad2:) So we still have 5 more years before we will be able to consider DVC.

Thinking about Max this morning. Hope they find out what is wrong, and are able to fix it!!! :flower3:

I know you don't know me, but I said a prayer for Max and really hope the vet can help him. It's so hard when they look to you for help and you have no idea what's wrong. Good luck!:flower3:

Also, I was wondering how you like working at Target? I was thinking about applying for seasonal work either at Target or JoAnn's. Target is only 5 minutes away, but JoAnn's isn't too much farther. It would just be for Christmas. TIA:goodvibes

Also, since I have been admiring your work and reading all your PTRs and how you got started sewing and all, I have been wondering if you always do your own quilting? Is it a no no to buy pre-quilted fabric? And could you share your secret to how you get the quilting so perfectly straight?? I've been sewing for quite some time, but I don't do quilting, so I know nothing about technique or anything. :confused3

Hope work goes well today and you come home to a good report for Max!::yes::

It appears that he has nerve damage to his left front leg. We don't know how it happened, the vet said that typically they see it when a dog is hit by a car. It is definately caused by trauma of some sort. He is with us all the time, so we have no idea how it could have happened... The vet suggested that maybe if he was tangled in his lead outside, and he was tugging too hard to get out - that could have caused it?

The vet put MM on an antiinflamitory for the next 7 days. The vet is hoping the nerve will regenerate - we should see a significant improvement over the next 72 hours. If we see none, we are supposed to bring him back. If there is no nerve regeneration, the vet may have to amputate at the shoulder.

I am just so upset about this, and trying to grasp at my memory for anything that may have caused this. I feel so badly for MM because he is in such pain, just when he is laying there. :sad2: He is only a puppy, and this is so unfair!

So, I ask for your prayers again.

OH NO!

This is one of those times when I hop that the doctor is wrong...very wrong... Praying. And keep us posted!

Nini

Poor Max. It is such a bad feeling when you know he is in pain and you can't tell him why. Poor little guy. I am praying for the best for him.

I've been really enjoying your pre-trip. Your bags are amazing! I love the Mickey ones best. One thing to think about with DVC is take a look at resales. You may be able to find what you are looking for in terms of size and location, and for a lot less money! Most importantly, hope everything goes well with Max and that he is on the mend soon.

Oh poor MM! I hope the medication works and the nerve regenerates! I will continue to prayer for him.

Oh poor Max! It's so hard when our pets are hurting and you can't do much to help them. :( One of my schnauzers is having serious eye issues and has gone blind pretty much over night. It's been hard getting him to adjust and we've had some scary moments as he has fallen down steps twice.

I hope all goes well and his foot heals. But, for some comfort, I volunteer every weekend at a local animal shelter. We have had many dogs (and cats) who have lost a leg and they do really well. Most of the time they do so well that you don't even notice right away that they are missing a limb. If it comes to that your baby will be fine and he will just be more special than before! :goodvibes
