WDW Dolphin
First the main lobby is on the 3rd floor, I did not know this. The lobby is grand with a very nice fountain in the center and shops all around. The lobby bar was off to the side. My room was on the 3rd floor and so I went to the elevator. I looked to see that there was no 3rd floor ****on. Went back to the check in desk and was told that I was already on the 3rd floor. At that point I should have been issued me a map and a compass. The Dolphin is huge!!! My room was located in the west wing. After a left at the gift shop, a right, a left, a walk about 150 feet, a right and a quick left, and another 100-150 foot walk and another left and 50 feet more I was at my room. I had a water view (canal) with a nice view of the Swan hotel. The beds were just to die for; very comfortable. To go to the pool you had to take the elevator down from the lobby (odd). The pool was very big and very nice. Guest with young children should be aware there are NO LIFE GUARDS on duty at any time. It is swim at your own risk. There were 2 "Guards", but they were stationed at the slide only. Restaurants, there were many, but if you are not into spending $75.00 on steak (Shula's) or $50.00 on seafood (Bluezoo), the only other restaurants were the Fountain for burgers and sandwiches or Picabu for buffet items, mac & cheese, chicken fingers, meat loaf... I did not check out the Swan restaurants. Transportation to and from the parks was great. The boat took you to MGM and the back door of EPCOT only, there were no buses from either location back to any EPCOT resorts. The Buses took you to all the other parks. It seemed to me, but I may be wrong, there were not that many buses going to the Swan & Dolphin compared to the other WDW resorts. It was like for every 1 Dolphin bus there was 3 WDW resort buses. Over all I would give the Dolphin a 7 out of 10. I would stay a the Dolphin again.
The Parks
All 4 parks were on average OK crowd wise. It was not shoulder to shoulder, you were able to walk freely without bumping into someone. For Aug the weather was hot but not to hot. The rain was about 15-20 minutes a day, no big deal. The wait for rides was about 30 to 45 minutes. I never saw a wait greater than 50 minutes. Of all the parks, my favorite was MK but closely followed by AK then Epoct and MGM. We spent 2 half days at MGM and I did not enjoy it. The sound effect show staring Drew Carey is a waste of space. Aside from ToT, RnR & the stunt show MGM needs to be revamped. At AK, Everest was by far the best ride, Kali river ride was a blast and the safari was just OK. MK makes me feel like a kid, there is nothing bad to say about this park. Just one problem, Big Thunder Mountin broke down and the CM's had problems off loading the lines. Being I was staying at the Dolphin I was able to go to Epoct often. Soarin was a very nice addition, Test Track is a favorite, I did not do Mission Space. I did EMH at Epcot, it was very dark, they should consider some additional lighting around the walkways. That's it for now.
