Aug 19 SSR

Hi. I just booked a 2 bedroom for SSR for Aug 19 for 1 week- Are most of the students back to school that week? Wondering if it will be really busy for the parks. thanks Val S.

Where I'm in in Ohio, schools haven't begun that week. We went that week last year and we had a fair number of heavy showers, but not "bad" crowds. We got to do everything we wanted in a 4 night stay.

We live in MI and our schools don't start until the last Tuesday in August which this year is the 29th.

I haven't been that time of year so I can't comment but I know in MI school isn't in session yet. I think most of the Great Lakes states are very similar to this.

Hi, Looks like you are just north of where we live We typically go the last week in August but this year we are taking the last 2 weeks and I'm not worried too much about crowds. Our NY schools go back after Labor Day, but last year it seemed that at that time of year most people were from up north or England. I believe that many schools are back in session around the 3rd week of August.
And we will also be at SSR 8/20-8/25! Can't wait!!

You must be moving into my 2 bedroom because we are checking out on the 19th. IMO the middle to end of August is the best time with regard to crowds in the summer.

Going for first time in August this year, usually go in fall but now have son starting kindergarden. All nj schools start after labor day. My friend went last year, said it was hot hot hot hot, but not croweded. going the 25-sept 2 first time to bwv, stayed ssr jersey week last year and love that resort, we just want to try them all when there is availability. Good luck to everyone, now lets go airfare for those dates. yeah

I am a big fan of going in August. It can get real hot, but that helps keep the local crowds down IMO. We get up early and hit the parks at early opening time and go until noonish. Head back to the room and relax, maybe do the pool and/or take a nap and then back to the parks around 4-5 pm. Works great for us.
