Aug 18-19

thoughts on crowds for Thursday Aug 18 and Friday Aug 19?
It will still be busy but not as much as earlier in the summer since lots of schools start on Monday, August 22. You will still have long waits on some attractions especially WWoHP and the water rides.

My family will be there.....so I guess there will be at least +4:rotfl2:

Seriously, we went during this time last year and it wasn't too bad.

Yeah...as I said it's not as busy as early summer but this is the transition time where vacations end and school begins.

Not forgetting that a lot of international tourists will still be in vacation period. UK schools go back in September. It wont make a huge difference - but the crowds I find are manageable at this time of year.

3 more, we are going these same dates as well...
I went last year at this time and it was manageable at Disney so I am assuming USF will be a little better, except WWOHP, but staying on site and going to early entry as well as late day. I have read those were the two best times..

Plus five. Our kids dont go back till September. We are staying onsite so it will be fine but like MW said kids are going back or have returned already.:thumbsup2

i just posted this answer and it disappeared.
maybe it went to another thread????

i am so blonde at times i kill myself.....:rotfl:

rhp extended the special discounted rate for LeakyConn hotel guests to the 20th of august.

with that in mind, it might affect the crowd level in the park.
i would expect that parry hotter would be having greater crowds possibly.

don't know if this will be a factor for crowds through out the parks for aug 18-9.

Thanks for posting this. I am doubly glad we booked onsite:wizard:

Wouldn't the extension of the discount suggest poor attendance for leaky con?

I hope so, BTW:what is RHP :confused3

We'll be there on Aug. 18 too, so add 5 more! A couple quick questions about IOA; I see by the map we have to go thru Dr. Seuss land on the way to Harry Potter. Will my son be able to step out of the crowd walking that way at park opening and take my grandson on some Seuss attractions? One isn't tall enough for Forbidden Journey and the other won't ride it. Is the park opening crowd to WWoHP similar to the one going to Disney's TSM? Anyone know roughly how long the wait may be first thing when the park opens? We're trying to arrange for our son and grandsonson to meet up with us after we come off Forbidden Journey, but we've never been. We are staying off site on Disney property and just going for the day. We are sooo excited!

Do you mean early opening or regular opening?

The one early opening I went to, they didn't let people run. There were employees along the way throwing up their hands to slow anyone who did start running.

And during early opening, I'm pretty sure only WWoHP was open.

I never went for regular opening (I prefer to sleep in a little), so I don't know if people run -- but you can absolutely "break off" from the crowd and head into Seuss Landing.

As for how long, it can depend on how soon you got to FJ and how much time you spend looking at/doing the other stuff on WWoHP.

sorry, rhp is a typo.
rph
royal pacific hotel.

i'm blonde, just sayin'...........

leakyconn is huge.
the attendance will be great.

most of the meetings and presentations will be done at the hotel/rph during the day.
evenings will be when those guests are in the parks.

but, could be that some leakyconn guests will be in the parks during the day.
really unknow at this point.

leakyconn ends on either the 17th or 18th.
i forgot which day, sorry.

many of those masses will leave the hotel then.

i stated before that the rph room rates will be discounted for those members of leakyconn by a couple of nights (or something close to that idea.)

peeps that are traveling from overseas or even traveling from within the states here, could extend their stay on the same room rate.

if all the guests that signed up for the leakyconn convention attended all the meets at the hotel, they would not be able to enjoy the park as much as they would like.

they do have an evening planned for the parry hotter section for them only.

only those ticketed homies will be allowed into the park that night for HP.

there could be some that want to stay longer and with the enticement of the cheaper room rates, they might do so.

i really think that the extension of the cheaper room rate due to the registration of LeakyConn, is a bonus for the guests.
it won't weaken the convention.

you can check out the LeakyConn group on line.
you can get the hours of their meetings and presentations and that might help you avoid any crowds.

when i last looked at it, i thought some things were over around 7:30ish.
that is just a guess.
honestly, i just don't remember when the evenings end for the convention.

We are +6 going on the 19th and have been trying to work out whether to spend the extra money on the express ticket we are staying at Nick resort booked and paid for months before we realised we should of stayed onsite and we are only spending one day at Universal :confused3

Also, the Nick resort hits you with a nightly "resort fee." Not sure if that's included in what you already paid, but keep that in mind.
