Sandy, the name of the company that owns and operates the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder is Magical Cruise Company, LTD.
My point in mentioning it is not that it impacts the credibility of the company or its employees, but that it illustrates many of the so called expert posters on this thread still have a lot to learn about this topic.
You'll also notice that none of the posters that were quick to criticize me bothered to ask me about my experiences although they were quick to boast about their own. I imagine that I've cruised more, both on MCC/DCL and other lines, including transatlantic, than 99.9% of the posters.
How do you know this? Did you ask in return other's cruising history? I had no idea on our Panama thread, even tho I've been talking with these people for months the amount of cruising history...
I'm also an avid sea kayaker having been out on the Great Lakes, Georgian Bay, Atlantic Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico.
How does this pertain to cruising? My uncle was in the Navy. Is that relavent?
Rough seas don't bother me which is why I don't worry about booking during Hurricane season. What I never could understand is why others book during Hurricane season when they fear a bit of motion sickness or inclement weather. They expect the Captain to ensure that their desires are met and the heck with everyone else. Somehow I don't see that as quite fair, although I do understand the practical implications to Magical Cruise Company in terms of attracting future patrons.
You are one person. Most people do get some form of sea sickness. You are also crusiing on a family cruise line. Kids get sea sick ALOT more. When we crossed the Great Barrier reef, there wasn't a kid who wasn't puking on board despite all the bovine, ginger and dramamine that was being given out. And since this is a family cruise line, hurricane season is uinfortunaly when most people can go, since it is summer.
In any event, thanks for taking time to reply.
I think the reason you're repeatedly getting slammed is you keep only mentioning yourself. Thousands of people cruise DCL every year, you're but a speck in that bucket, all of DIS is nothing more than a few drops. It sucks you couldn't go to GC. It sucks that you feel the weather was fine, despite you not being there. Tropical weather is unpredictable. I've been at home, 20 minutes from Tampa and it's been sunny, but in Tampa it's been monsooning (yeah I know not a word, but it's late) For that day tho, the weather at Tampa may not look bad since the weather radar is 20 minutes south near where I live.
The point is, when you got your docs, you sent in that you would go with the flow. Maybe there were 4 ships at GC on Wed, maybe the harbourmaster said no ships on Wed, maybe the captain said let's not chance tendering. It wasn't a plot to go to Nassau. Disney goes there enough, one more ship would not have made a difference. It probably came down to either a sea day or Nassau and the captain said lets get these folks on dry land in case there was a large breakout of seasickness.
The final point is, you don't know. None of us do. You can either keep harping on it, or enjoy your vacation...
