Hello!

I am seriously considering taking my 2 girls to the Princess meal at the Auberge. I had a look at the restaurant reviews and searched the forum and can't find the answers that I am looking for so hope you don't mind me asking a Q?

Where is the best place to be seated? Can you request where to sit? Best time for the reservation? Does anyone know the up to date menu? There will only be the 3 of us as DH and DS will go off doing lads and dads things.

Thankyou:goodvibes

The best place (by all accounts) is to be seated by the dancefloor.

And as with all the dlrp restaurants you can't request certain tables. :(

Best bet is to go for the first seating and get there a bit early :)

Since you're probably going for lunch I'd recommend the 12 o clock sitting. Then if you queue at the door at about 11.50 you will be one of the first in line to get through the photo with Cinderella, and you'll already be sitting at your table when Suzy and Perla come in. The princesses will spend more time with you when the restaurant isn't quite so full, as it does get very busy.
We ate there in May so the menu may have changed a bit.
Although you can't request a specific table I would ask to be quite near the dance floor and not in the other room.

We were there on 29th September. I haven't done my review yet on the relevant thread as haven't had time but will do soon :thumbsup2

We actually had a table ON the dancefloor and it was amazing!!! I believe that a larger table of people get the tables nearer the dancefloor - well we found that - we didn't ask for that table so I was sooo pleased!

We went for 11.55 am and I definately think that was best - we didn't leave until around 2.15 pm ish and weren't rushed at all. I think we saw the Princesses come out 3 times in that time as new people were arriving all the time for their slots.

I've put some pics etc in my Day Two Trip Report below - may be worth a look..

Took a pic of the menu (again will put in review):

Soft drink to start
Then - trio starter (set) - tom & mozzarella, smoked salmon, foie gras
Main - choice of lamb, veal, cheese/veg tortellini or scallop in champagne sauce
Dessert trio (set) - choc tarte, creme brulee type thing and a berry sorbet thing
Coffee & wine

HTH

PS - it was an amazing experience and considering the E55 price and what you get elsewhere for E30 it was fantastic value too! :thumbsup2

Sorry I forgot to say about the child's menu - I can't remember it (and it's in her bedroom and she's asleep - as they get to take it away as souvenir). I do recall she had the beef patty and tbh it was v v pink in the middle - she didn't eat it but did enjoy Daddy's pasta (she's normally a great eater too!). She did eat all her starter and also her dessert which included a white chocolate cinderella slipper.

I'll dig it out tomorrow and let you know for sure if you'd like me to.

Thankyou all for your help :thumbsup2

Patsy, thanks for all the info too, (just read your day 2 trip report, sounds fab) that would be great if you let me know whats on the childs menu too. My girls would probably like the beef, but I will have to ask for it to be well done!

:)
The meal was originally going to be just me and the girls but I am thinking if dh and ds come too that will put our party size up to 5 and maybe we will get a table nearer the dancefloor!

I didn't realise the drinks and wine were included in the price, how much wine do you get that might be a deciding factor for hubby to come along too :rotfl:
and I think that he might regret not coming, esp seeing the girls all dressed up :lovestruc

I was trying to keep the costs down but we are Dream annual pass holders so we do get discount and my son is only 2 so he will eat off our plates, look I've persuaded my self! lol!

I made DH go with me a few weeks ago and we don't even have any children!!! He was much happier once that glass of wine was placed in front of him. I think it was me making him take his pic alone with Cinderella that did him in.

Theoretically you get as much wine as you like! They ask what you'd like, and the first time we went we were in such shock we had white with our starter, red with our main (which he refilled) and were supposed to have rose with our dessert. That never materialised but we weren't bothered since we didn't actually want any more wine, especially on top of the cocktail you have first which is also included. The second time we went I don't think the wine was quite so generous but that may have been because they were so very busy and we didn't get quite such good attention from the waiter.
My DS actually enjoys it almost as much as DD - he dresses as a knight and gets almost as much attention, especially since the princes come too now. He gets a little pressie too - a knight's helmet, and DD gets a fairy wand.

I think we only got one glass of wine each (I was slow drinking mine as seeing to the girls so that may have been the reason?). We certainly didn't get different types with courses. We also got water and a cocktail at the start which was non alcoholic - don't think there is an option now on that tbh? Didn't see one!

Kids choice - 1 drink of orange juice, water or milk
Starter (set) - 3 fairies delicacy - salmon mousse, carrot & chutney thing wth cucumber sticks, tom & mozzarella balls
Main - ground beef patty, salmon candy with rissotto or dainty harlequin pastry in tom puree (veggie)
Dessert - (set) white choc slipper, choc token, strawberry milkshake with candyfloss top (mini thing) and sorbet

HTH

PS - DH went with us as did Stepdad and they really enjoyed it - I think it's the look of DD and how much she enjoyed it plus the meal was lovely and tbh well worth the money when as I say, some places you pay E30 for essentially a burger meal and a drink  i.e. places like Annettes & Rainforest Cafe!

Thanks Patsy :goodvibes

Don't think the girls will think much of the starters!!! Lol! But if I ask the beef patties to be well done and the puddings sounds yum, we'll be OK. Anyway they're not going for the food, they'll have princesses on their minds!

I've told dh we are going today, he just said hum!!!:lmao: He knows I'll get my own way ;)

You're welcome :thumbsup2 Enjoy it!

PS - DD lost her wand :( We think she left it in the hotel room on the last day :( I don't think she was ever meant to 'have' it as they didn't give her one on leaving the restaurant but I noticed others getting them so I went back and asked :rotfl: Still, it wasn't to be eh!

The menu has definitely changed since May then - no pasta on the kids' choice? My DS won't be pleased! Hope it changes again before Christmas!

We did this just a few days ago. DD ate virtually nothing but it was the best money I have ever spent. I spent almost the entire time crying, as it was so wonderful (in fact I'm even crying again, just thinking about it!) If your daughters are into the princesses then I don't think there's a single better thing that you can do in the park. But if they aren't specifically into princesses then you might just as well queue up to meet them on Central Plaza, for free :) Get them to wear princess dresses too and they get loads of attention and gives them something to talk about.

Definitely echo what others have said about about booking for noon (when the restaurant opens) and arriving in the queue 15 minutes beforehand, then you can ask for what table you want. I would ask specifically to sit near the fireplace - we just asked for the dancefloor and although we were almost the first people in, we could've been closer had we sat near the fireplace.

As for the food, definitely no pasta. But they are too excited to eat anything anyway, really. I didn't like the adult desserts that much but the kids desserts were fantastic. I wanted a glass slipper too, dammit! :) Also didn't realise you could have as much wine as you wanted - I guess they don't advertise the fact! Huh, wish I'd asked for more now :)

I wanted my photo taken with the princes but didn't have the courage to ask :)

To sum up, it was horrifically expensive but I would honestly have paid three times as much for the experience - a wonderful lifelong memory that will have me filling up every time I think about it :) Btw - if you get Aurora, her prince is rather yummy :)

Hi all. Looking at the kids menu I am worried.
My DD won't eat any of that stuff. hmm wonder what's on the adult menu. Maybe she would eat some of mine and hubbys and we could eat hers.
I figured with the price the food would be good. I wish the princesses would be at the tea pary now held at the pizza place.

mama, the food *is* good - it's fantastic, in fact. it's just that kids don't usually like 'good' food :)

DD has salmon wrapped in pastry and made to look like a sweet, with asparagus risotto and some fancy veg. I had scallops in Champagne sauce. That's heaps better than the usual burger & chips fare - just a shame that kids usually prefer the burger & chips fare!!

That's it - I'm definitely doing this with middle DD. Your post has made me decide to go for it. My cynical DH doesn't want to go and my eldest DD wouldn't be too bothered by meeting the princesses but my middle DD is mad on them and I am willing to pay to see her face! I know that neither of us will eat much but I'll live with that.

Do you find many boys there? DS's favourite film at the moment is Aladdin- what are the chances of meeting Aladdin and Jasmine there?

I agree that the food IS fantastic - very nice indeed and us adults loved it - esp as it wasn't burgers and chips! Also my DD ate all her starter and her dessert (and most of the main apart from the beef because it was v rare in the middle - my fault for not saying really). She ate quite a bit of Daddy's pasta so that could be an option for those kids that eat like kids (fortunately DD1 doesn't - she's a fab eater - well most of the time lol!).

Joolz - you will just LOVE it - IMO it's the most valued part of our trip and actually the most value for money too considering the experience.

- I've never heard of Aladdin & Jasmine there but check on the Auberge thread there may be something there?? :)

Can you get birthday cakes there? We're hoping to do a birthday trip next year and this would be the place of choice! x
