I just added up the total for the tickets I will be purchasing last night and I almost fainted. :o

My DH insists that we purchase the 4 day park hopper plus tickets, but we are only doing two MK and MGM, which the MK visit is for the MNSSHP and that doesn't count toward the hoppers. We are doing Typhoon Lagoon which we can use from the hoppers.

The MNSSHP tickets are separate as well.

We are also doing US only and again my DH insists that we purchase the 2-Day 2-Park Tickets which do not expire either.

We also want to do a day at Sea World since we've never been.

Not to mention I'm going to buy some meal vouchers too.

Is it unnecessary to buy in bulk? The next time we're going to Disney is this October 2004 and sometime in 2006. What do you guys suggest I do?

We are a family of three (myself, DH and DD9).

If you are planning to go in October of this year and for sure in 2006, then I agree. Buy a park hopper that will cover enough days for both trips.

But, maybe you could make this trip disney and next trip Universal/Sea World. I think that makes better sense than doing one day at each park on two different trips. Plus, you could spread out the cost of the tickets this way. You would only have to buy WDW tickets this time and then Universal/Sea World tickets next time.

I would buy park hoppers that cover both trips too. They never expire and then on your next trip you wont have the expense of buy your park tickets.

I also agree to buy the 4day to cover the next trip. But what if you plan more days to vacation next time. For example next time you want to stay 6 days and do all 4 parks. Now you will have the problem of needing more days then what is left on your 4 day hopper. I usually buy 4 day hoppers but we agreed to do epcot and AK in one day next trip (summer 2005) but this trip we will do all 4 park, so we got the 7 day hopper plus. One big expense not and no expense later.:p

This is what my DW and I are working out for our next trip.

We are staying 5 days at OKW and then 2 more offsite while we go to US/IOA.

We are planning on 4 days at WDW (1 for each park) but we are deciding to buy the 7day PHP pass.

The biggest factor is that as DVC member we know we will be going back (FOR SURE!) therefore we will be having 3 days
and a few Plus Options left over for our next trip. (7day gives you the best value at $48 per day... That would mean for our 2nd trip we would have a $144 3Day PHP ticket. I don't think you can beat that with a wooden stick ;)

You sound like you will be going again also... To lock in your prices now on tickets would be most optimal.

Also, I have read on the boards that if your DD9 activates the childs ticket and doesn't use all the days, she is still eligable to use that ticket in the future (check into this because I am not 100% positive how this works)

If it does work that would save you some money in the future right there. Get a 7day CHilds pass and she will be locked in to that childs price even though she is older enough to have to buy an Adult ticket.

Best of luck ::yes::

::yes:: ::yes:: I also read about this, you can exchange the child's ticket for an adult ticket for free! So you would be ahead of the game for 2006 trip. Good luck and have a wonderful time. :teeth: :wave2:

If you do check into the child ticket/adult ticket transaction, please post what you find out. I have read somewhere that there would be some cost involved when the child ticket is transferred to the adult ticket. I would like to know whether or not that is the case. Thank you!

we traded in my now 16 yr old ds's ticket from 1995 to an adult ticket with no hassle or cost. This was in April 2003.

See, I didn't even think about the fact that my child will be a Disney Adult after next year! Yes, I need to look into this further. I have to think this whole ticket thing through. Last year wasn't hard because we chose Disney and decided to do all the 4 parks. We would like to do US, IOA and SW but DH says that going to Orlando without going to a Disney Park takes the fun out of going. What do you guys think?

I always go to both, DW and USO/IOA. I split my stay in 4 days here and 4 days there. The cost is almost the same (but we get the added perk of FOTL at USO/IOA for staying onsite). I usually go alone or with one other person. This year we are a party of 11! We are going to stay at RPR to visit USO/IOA, and visiting SW the day we check out of RPR, then DW with UPH for 3nts/4days. Part of party is going to Daytona one day, the down-day (no parks). HTH!

We always do Universal and Disney too. Depending on how long we are staying we normally do 2-3 days at Universal and the rest at Disney.
We have a Sea World close by in San Antonio so we dont do SW in Orlando.

Yep, DH will not budge...he wants to do MGM, MNSSHP, a water park for our DD, IOA and US. I'm going to have to go with the 4-Day PHP and the two day deal with Univesal. Oh boy! It's hard trying to keep costs down. :(

My DH is the man!!!! Sometimes I think this man does not listen to a word I'm saying when I talk to him. He told me last night that he has been saving little bits of money here in there for the past year and now he's ready to pick up up the 7-Day PH tickets! I am psyched!!!! My worries are over for the Disney tickets and this makes it so much easier for me now!!! Universal & Sea World here we come! Thanks to everyone for responding to my pain for the past several days! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I am SO glad you are opting for the 7 day park hoppers! You are saving yourself a TON of money that way and with your DD having to start paying for adult passes in 2006 it'll be a one-time magical super bonus!

You have a fun husband...how long did he actually string you along about ticket price worries? lol (I bet he was tickled with himself every time you said, "um, honey? I know you love Disney and all but we have to make some mature decisions...now, I really think it might be better to....") lol

Have you found the best deal for those tickets? Ticketmania sometimes has additional perks when you buy them there...I believe if you pick them up at their store (near Universal I think...it's on their website)...you get free minigolf and a 20 minute phone card...plus their prices were the best I found anywhere when I last bought tickets. Last September they were giving a free Disney breakfast with each 7 Day PHP but I think I heard that they are now giving a free ticket for DQ instead which I think is an even better deal!

Wow, I'm a tad bit jealous. I wish my DFiance would put away some money here and there to surprise me! ;) :D

I'm glad everything is working out for you. :D

Also, BTW...those perks never expire and we have actually done some vacations to OTHER Florida places and attractions...with the kids, DH and I going to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach a couple of times they were satisfied!!! Of course we knew that we would be going to the parks the next time...but still...it also saved a lot when all we really wanted to do was one or two days at a major park...and then we could still do a whole day at a Disney water park...for "free"!

I am the proud possessor of over 30 "free" Disney water park days, hoarded over several years...wonderful now that my teens (who are Disney Parked Out and would rather go to IOA, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld)...they LOVE a day at a Disney water park way over a day at the MK! (not I...I am the true blue loyal Disney nut!)

Our vacations are very manageable money-wise because of all these never-expire options.

LOL, my DH loves to bust my chops ALL the time. I should have expected this from him because he's always doing things like this. When he told me he was getting the tickets I immediately thought it was the 4 day PH tickets, and I jumped so high when he said 7 days! I panic because I want to have our ticket situation taken care of four months in advance and finally it's done. Whew!

I just hope my DD9 will want to go back to Disney in 2006. In 2005 we are doing St. Lucia. She's already been saying that she's a little tired of Disney and wants to go to Montego Bay (darn Jamaica commercials--"come to Jamaica and feeeeeeeeeel alriiiiiiiiiight"). Awww fooey!

I'm curious (because I only keep up with the Park Hoppers with plusses....how much is a regular 7 Day Park Hopper? ...or did you get Park Hopper Plusses? (lol...I don't even know if there is a 7 Day Park Hopper WITHOUT plusses! Help!

DH said that he is getting the 7 day PHP tickets through his bosses sister who works for Disney for an undisclosed price (he won't tell me!). LOL! She works for Disney she's in a management position in California (big wig of some sort, I don't know) and something about she owed her brother a favor. It doesn't matter, I'm happy! She's FedExing the tickets to us.

So we can do Typhoon Lagoon as well!

Great!

On those 7 day PHPs you'll get 4 waterpark days each if they're regular PHPs!...or PI if you want...but I think with kids the water parks are more fun, especially since now you can go over and scope out PI for free (without using your ticket you can roam around at will, just not allowed inside the clubs)
