To all BCV owners with young children in diapers, please listen up. We just spent the Thanksgiving holiday at our Home Resort (BCV), and was appalled at the stench of dirty diapers left in every elevator bank garbage can, as well as sitting on the badly stained carpeting outside of the rooms. Now I'm certainly no prude, and have a 2 y/o who could've cleared the floor with a couple of his diapers last week, but people.....PLEASE!!! How could you not smell it?!? Those who stayed there last week know exactly what I'm saying.

Also...we know housekeeping only comes once a week...let's pick up a little! Do you really need to lay bags of empty garbage outside your room when every hallway has a trash room???

There, I'm done. BCV is only 3 years old, and it was disgusting in some spots, still magical in most. But WE are the owners there, and I can't imagine what that place is going to look like in 10 years if we don't take care of it.

Peace!

I am not a BCV owner, but I couldn't agree with you more! But the few slobs who do this, probably live in filth at home. Throwing their trash out into the hallway at the "big resort hotel" is similar to tossing it into their yard at home. The people who "own" the house next door to us live in absolute filth! Good luck!

P.S. These are the same folks who will complain about a dues increase for maintenance costs!!!!!!!

But wouldn't it be nice to collect these dirty diapers and dump them on the front steps of the offenders, so they had a nice present to come home to from WDW? :earseek:

Some people can be such slobs. Thanks for the reminder!

That is disgusting! What is wrong with some people? Why do they think we want to smell it in the hallways if they don't want the stench in their room?

We had this problem once at the Beach Club. I, being my naturally cheerful self, asked them why they were putting their trash in the hallways. Their answer was that housekeeping hadn't emptied it today.

To make a long story short: they were renters who had no idea that DVC has limited housekeeping. Even after I "educated" them, they still kept this up.

Just do what I do with those garbage bags people leave outside their room (which they put out in the morning and sometimes are still there 8 hours later)...hang it on their doorknobs! Makes us giggle every time! :rotfl2:

couldn't agree more with the op. was there in october and the 5th floor garbage at the 'backdoor' elevators reaked of diapers.

unfortunately, it probably won't do much good to preach to the board members here, as most of us (if not all) care too much about the place to pull stunts like that.

It's too bad that during the purchase process there's no way to screen out the trashy element. Perhaps the high cost of DVC helps a little, but clearly trashy people can come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and economic categories.

Well, on the benefit of the doubt side, keep in mind that housekeeping does use clear garbage bags to collect trash in the units and then does place them in the hall for later disposal while cleaning.

I noticed this once again this past week at BWV where our trash had been taken out for trash and towel day and placed in the hall outside our door. I would certainly be mortified if anyone had thought we did it ourselves.

As far as the dirty diaper smell, well how about Diaper Genies? I hear they work great. But we owners would be footing the bill of course, sigh.

Just curious, as a mom of one who will still (sigh) be in diapers when we go to SSR in January...is there a dumpster somewhere so we can take our own trash out? :confused3 We understand about the no housekeeping, but I assumed there would be a place we could take it out ourselves as needed. Now I'm worried!

I am a BCV owner, and I have 3 young children, 2 of which are not potty trained. I have not stayed at my home resort yet however. We are brand new owners :flower: . We have stayed at the VWL with our crew this past summer and here is what we did with the diaper situation. I went to the dollar store and bought a box of diaper disposal bags. We designated one garbage can in our villa for diaper collection and double bagged each dirty one. At the end of every day Dh walked the day's deposit down to the trash room. There was no smell in either our room or the trash room because of the double bagging. Worked great for us and just cost pennies. Shame on the parents who stink up the hallways. I love my kids, but I certainly don't think their poop doesn't stink! :rotfl:

I wouldn't have to keep changeing my DW diaper if ToT didn't keep scareing the POO out of her. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

But it really does amaze me on how people spend soooo much money for a great vacation and can stand that They have to smell it also.

This is a great point, about the members here on the board, I to feel like the people who are members and disers take alot of pride in there homes, thats why we are here discussing these things. We should make every effort to get all our DVC ers on the boards, then they can read about all the unpleasant things they do. :cool1:

And tape a sign on the door saying "Dear pigs, it is your responsibility to dispose of your filth properly. If in doubt call housekeeping."

It didn't matter this last trip but one thing I couldn't find in SSR was the trash room. It was just me & I was there for food & wine (eating out) but that was something I did want to know for future reference.

We've stayed at BCV many times. My son and husband always take care of the trash while we're there since it's their job at home too. I'm guilty of not knowing where on the floor it is, but I recalled signs pointing the way.

I also liked the idea of the double bagging the diapers and the special diaper bags that can be purchased. Can someone post the name of these bags, or brands if allowable? It's gross to use the indoor public garbage cans, like the ones near the elevator, for diapers! I don't have young kids with diapers anymore, but I'm sure that parents with those needs would like to know some ideas for this.

Thanks to for posting this message.

Around the corners from the elevators.

The CMs at check in should make it a habit to point out the trash rooms on the hotel maps.

We don't even keep smelly diapers in our own Diaper Champ at home. We found that once our kids started solids, the diaper will stink up the whole 2nd story! We bag each one in a grocery bag and take it outside to the trash each time. I have 2 kids that are not "trained" yet. I have been thinking that I was hoping they would do most of their "business" at the parks where I could leave their diapers. I know my kids and that seems very unlikely. I plan on taking our grocery bags with us and taking the smelly diapers out like we do at home!
