Kidani has two long wings, north and south. From the lobby to the end of the north wing is about 1/3 mile, to end of south wing a little less than that. The bus stop is not far from the lobby in front of the south wing. That trek from bus stop to an end room on the north wing with little ones after a full day at the park is the definition of extreme torture while you are at WDW. If you have standard view, most of those rooms are within striking distance of the lobby, although a small number of converted savanna view rooms are not. The risk of being far away is mainly a savanna view risk. If you get savanna view you will also likely prefer the Sunset Savanna which has giraffes. It is the largest savanna and 80% of Kidani's savanna view rooms overlook it. To try to avoid the march of torture to the end rooms, you can make a request that gets you somewhat close to the lobby. I do not recommend requesting close to lobby because almost everyone does now and thus many do not get it and if they cannot give you your location choice they just put you in any available room which is usually one of those near the end of the wings. Instead request one of these: (a) close to Rafiki elevator (puts you on north wing some walking distance from lobby but not huge and gives you shortest walk to the pool); (b) close to community hall, puts you on south wing close to the lobby since community hall is near the lobby, (c) close to the Timon elevator, a little further down the hall from community hall puts you close to the exit that is closest to the bus stop.
Mentioned above is the the distance from the Kidani lobby to Jambo lobby may only be about 150 yards. They would have to raze the buidling and move it close to a half mile to get it that close. The actual distance from lobby to lobby is about 1/2 mile. Out the last elevator on the south wing (the Zazu elevator) puts you about a 1/4 mile from the Jambo Lobby.
The 1BRs at Kidani are among the best of the
DVC 1BRs. They are the third largest 1BRs (behind OKW and VGF), have two bathrooms and one continuous porch along the living room and bedroom. If you have a car, you get ideal parking on the ground floor under the building in a lot that runs throughout most of the building and, with elevators along the wings, you can always park fairly close to your room. We have found the bus service at Kidani to be better than most including because it has only two internal stops (Kidani and Jambo) and does not share with any other resort. The pool at Kidani is smaller than Jambo but has the longer slide and the elaborate kids water play area. You have only one restaurant and it is table servide for lunch and dinner and good but for quick service restaurant you have to go to Jambo's Mara. Jamba has one of the best buffets on sire, Boma, and a good but expensive table service restaurant, Jiko.
For pictures, try the following: (a) go to youtube and search for: Kidani one bedroom; you will get walk throughs of the 1BRs; (b) go to Google images and put in the same or just put in Kidani and you will get a huge number of pictures.
