For those of you in Northern Virginia, there is a temporary "Disney" store in the in the Pan Am Shopping Center in Fairfax (near the Baja Fresh). This store will be open daily until May 25th and they get new stuff in every week. They are selling stuff either discontinued or unsold from the parks. Currently they are stocked with Disneyland and California Adventure stuff. I just spend $110 and got 2 sweatshirts, 6 tshirts, 2 books, and various pens, magnets, etc. They have pins too! Everything is 50% to 80% off. I spent my entire lunch break in there shopping and plan to go back after work (they're open till 9pm)!! :D

Directions from I-95 please,

Hmmm.... Its just off I-66 at Nutley. You could take 495 to 66 and get off at the Nutley (going East). At Route 29 (Lee Highway, 3rd light), go straight through the light and turn left into the shopping center. You'll see a First Union bank in the parking lot. The store has no name, but its to the left of the Safeway and next to the Tuxedo shop. Look for BIG Yellow signs saying Disney Sale 80% off! You could also get off the Beltway at Gallows and take that to Lee Highway. Turn south on Lee and take it to the Nutley intersection. Turn left into the shopping center as directed above.

Thanks. I may have to make a road trip. It is the travelling outlet store for the CA parks. I went to it before when it was in Lancaster, PA.

Tina,
Did they happen to have any signs up that say where the locations are or are going to be in the future? It will take me about 2 hours or so to get there and if there will be a location closer I would wait to go to that one.
Thanks so much for your help. :)

No there is no listing of future sites, but you can try calling the permanent store in Fullerton CA for more info. Do a Yahoo search for "AMC Character Warehouse" and you'll find lots of links that talk about this company. Most list info about the permanent store and contact info.

jilljill,

AMS was at Arundel Mills around Christmas time. They tend to be in a location for about three months at a time. If I get info about where they are going next, I'll pass it along.

The strange thing is that I signed up to get added to the email list and didn't get a notice about the Fairfax location. My coworkers told me about it--and that they're getting a big shipment May 1st. Too bad I'll be in WDW that day!

Suzanne

Everyone thanks for the info. I will have to look it up and give them a call. Hopefully I will get down there the weekend after the big shipment.
Happy shopping.

Thanks for the info. I went there over the weekend and had a blast. It was fun just being there with the Disney music and all the Disney stuff – I could almost pretend I was in the parks. I wish they had WDW stuff instead of just DL. (Funny how they had LOTS of DCA stuff – must not be selling very well at the park!). All I got was one tee shirt and a nightgown. The nightgown is really nice – 100% silk and the pattern is Mickey heads. It’s so subtle that I may not have even noticed it was Mickeys if I didn’t know where I was! Now I just need a boyfriend who is a Disney fan so someone can appreciate it.

LOL! Its too bad you couldn't meet one right at the store!! :D Unfortunately, my wallet didn't get out in such good condition. I made 2 trips in one day and both bills were over $100!! I bought lots and lots of clothes for DH and myself. I work right across the street, so I plan to check it out often for new arrivals. I'll let you know if I see anything besides DL and DCA stuff.

Does anyone know if this place is still open. I just called and Pan Am didn't know if they were still there or not. I'd hate to drive 2 hours and them not be there.

They were still there yesterday when I went to lunch. They said they would be there until May 25th.

Tina,
Did they have a lot of good stuff? I'm planning on going down Sunday. Also, I just booked a quick trip to DL in July so I can pick up some souvies ahead of time. :)
TIA

Yes, they have TONS of awesome stuff. Unfortunately for me, most of the clothing was either child's size (I have no kids), small, or XXL. I did luck out on a number of sweatshirts and a few tshirts. I picked up loads of books, picture frames, mugs, pens, pencils, etc as well. I'd say about 85% of the stuff is California Adventure.

On my way out the door to drive down to check it out. I will let everyone know what I find today.

There's still plenty of good stuff. I went in again yesterday afternoon and picked up 3 sweatshirts and 6 tshirts (spending about $70). :D

Back from spending my money. At least I got most of my souvie shopping done for my July trip - less stuff to bring back in July.
I got a lot of pins, a few kids t-shirts and sweatshirts, a couple of adult t's, a photo album, and a bunch of souvies and post cards for $163.00. Not too bad for a quick trip down. I'm glad I don't live any closer ;)

Oh Jill, how right you are!! I've spent WAY too much money there in the last 30 days!!! :D
