My family is currently on the Fantasy, enjoying our first Disney Cruise! Tonight my daughter and I were taking in some family karaoke in the D lounge, when a ship-wide announcement came on saying, from my memory, “Attention red parties, red parties, Deck 4, D Lounge”. The crew stopped the karaoke and quickly escorted everyone out. Other crew members were running past us toward the D lounge as we were walking away.

Shortly after, some crew stated it had to do with a fire. However in the D lounge, there was nothing wrong that we could tell, and the crew in there seemed surprised, so I don’t think they called anything in.

Does anyone know what that announcement means, or has anyone else experienced that before?

Yes, it's a fire alarm. It could be a sensitive sensor. It could be a full on fire. Either way, at sea, they will respond immediately.

Thanks! Hopefully it was an overly sensitive sensor and there wasn’t any damage. Now we have a fun story to tell anyway!

Our fun story is the 4 am ship's alarm going off. I woke up and recognized that it was the ship's alarm (7 short, 1 long blast), but I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do for a few minutes. Turns out there was a "fire" in one of the engine rooms. We were to dress and wait in our rooms for further instructions. Took about 20 minutes before the announcement was made "all clear".

Yes, Red Party is the code for a fire. We have had 2. :hyper:

In a small world moment, on our last cruise we were chatting with a bartender about Red Parties and he was telling us how he put one out and got all sorts of recognition for it etc.... He didnt say where or what ship. Then we brought up one we were on board for discussing Pinocchio's on the Wonder (Feb 2015)...that was the one he put out! I told him he saved our lives! :goodvibes

This reminded me that the ship alarm went off the small ship we were on two weeks ago around 11pm... I woke up to it, heard some running down the halls, and then everything went quiet so... I went back to bed! Turns out there was smoke in the kitchen and boy did we all get made fun of afterwards. Only one couple did the right thing and put on their lifejackets/get outside! Other than them and myself the rest slept right through it, including my husband.
