I received this email from a quasi site that is trying to steal identities.

BEWARE !!!!!!!!

"Dear eBay User,

During our regular update and verification of the accounts, we couldn't verify your current information. Either your information has changed or it is incomplete.

As a result, your access to bid or buy on eBay has been restricted. To start using your eBay account fully,
please update and verify your information by clicking below:

https://scgi.ebay.com/saw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?VerifyInformation "

DO NOT CLICK ON THIS LINK!! If you do, DO NOT IMPUT ANY INFORMATION!!

This has been reported to eBay and they are working on it.

Please notify any other eBay users with this information- and please don't give them ANYTHING! And they're asking for it ALL.

There is a similar AOL scam alerting you that flowers have been ordered to your account and it gives you a link to cancel or confirm.
Thanks for the heads up.

I have only gotten the flowers twice (and the tip off is the amount of flowers ordered for the price he says was charged LOL!)

The eBay one..heck I sometimes get two of those a day..they've been rampant. eBay will never ever ask for your password in an email. Neither will Paypal.

I got that email. I forwarded it right to Ebay. I know it was not legit because it asked for my password and Id right in the email.

thanks a bunch.......I was just doing things on ebay and I was reading one of the emails I got from a buyer and I read the bottom print from ebay specifically saying that they don't ask for any information like your password or credit card info through an email. This is proof! Thanks......now I will have it imbedded in my brain not to click on an email like that!

have A Disney Day!!!!!!:smooth:

This has been all over the news lately too. All of the ebay scams starting w/ emails asking for your password and user ID.

Hi,
My husband and i use ebay alot...About three weeks ago we recieved that email and my husband continued to fill it out....Then about three hours later he checked his email and there was something about a email going around trying to steal info and it look just like from ebay but it wasn't from ebay....We paniced so we closed our bank account, closed our credit cards and called social security over this to let them know what was going on and that he had filled this form out...I'm glad we did all this within the day we found out this all was going on but the social security number still scares me....
Passing on our horrible experience....

This has been ging on for awhile now. Ebay has been trying to fight it with email alerts and media warnings.

They consistently say they will never send you an email or any other request to divulge personal info or passwords. Yet unfortunately scammers still abound and people still fall for it.

After hearing about this e-mail for the past year, I finally got one just the other day. I just deleted it. The one thing that gave it way to me that it was a scam, was that it said I would not be able to list any thing on ebay until I answered the e-mail and gave them all of my info again. But I had just gotten through listing about 60 items.

But I did run into a seller who I think answered one of these. However it happened someone was able to take over his ebay account and they added items under his user name that he did not have for sale. So everyone watch out.
