Second of all, Although you may have access to staff at any time. Your only supposed to use that for emergencies, ( probably. )

Thirdly, for LAZY players that just want to be a CL so they can get in first for host EVENTS. Why dont you just try on your own? Would it really kill you?

Forth, Wow, popularity, being a CL isn't about popularity, ( for any of you who would want to be one, for that matter. ) It shows, that you can help people and if they need help, your there.

Last but not least, Trades. Yes, you think you can trust them, but they're just ordinary players. Although they have been chosen by staff, at any time with a trade over 15 items, they can just take them away, if your planning on letting them hold it, for trade.

So all in end, they are just ordinary people.

Just because you are in a "leaders" room does not make a guest claiming to be a leader a real leader. This has scam written all over it. So many red flags. Only trust the leaders you really know well both from your friendship with them and their reputation here.

And personally this is why I do not think CLs should help in exchanges.

For one they are setting themselves up to be taken advantage of ...and so many things can go wrong during a trade.

EXACTLY what I've been thinking. I've never understood why people are so quick to trust a stranger because they are a "leader" (of course, some apparently take the word leader as a leader of scammers...). VMK should either make the trade window able to hold much more, or put a little warning in the free space of that giant trade window.

That is so far from the truth. Ink is a leader. 1 minute before host game he and I are clicking away. He searches just like me. many times i have beaten him into a host game. It just depends on lag, time of day and which of the to of us has a faster hand. I often wonder why people think these things.

We know... and we are trying to point out all the places where this deal just smelled bad, so that you and others can become even more aware about the art of scamming.

Some scammers are not very good and you can smell them a mile away (if you know the things to look for) but A LOT of scammers are so very very good, it isnt until they have scammed you that you realize it.

This scammer smelled big time. And because you brought it up, others can learn from it

this is a BAD idea. do you know this CL? Would you trust this person enough to loan them $100? A CL is just a player who happened to answer some questions right and send an email at the right time. That does NOT make them more honest than they would have been without the tag. DTA: Dont trust anybody. I have never been scammed because I liove my VMK life by this rule. Seriously, even people I have known on VMK a while... I dont really know them. I dont know where they live, I have not been to their house for dinner etc... Trust should not be blindly given because the person happens to acquire a CL tag.

Once upon a time there was a VMK Player named <name removed> , she went into a staff room and asked if she could be staff because she was a newbie. She was then humiliated. She then got a trade request from Fusco. She went to the trade window and Fusco magicly gave her a pirate hat. The one that was released this time last year.

I know that I, personally, go to great length and effort to make sure everything I'm doing is on the up-and-up. I was like that before I was a CL_, but I'm quite aware of everything that I do and say now that I am one.

As far as being leary of helping others trade, I can't share that sentiment. I'm here to help, period. If someone needs me to help in a trade because they don't feel like they can trust anyone else, then I will gladly be of assistance. There's not a lot that CL_'s are used for, frankly - helping others is the biggest thing, and to me that means answering questions, helping on quests if I can, helping a Host_ should I ever be asked, or helping with trades.

The fact that I was asked by some random person whether I would be a leader that helps with trades makes me believe that far too many leaders aren't willing to help others in this manner. My 2c...

It's a personal choice. There are MANY CL's who will help with trades, some of whom post here on the Dis. It is and always has been my choice not to. All I want people to know is that it is NOT part of being a CL, as so many believe it is.
I have always been helpful with answering questions and helping on quests, both as a CL and before. That's what a CL is there for, to answer questions.

Good question and there is no answer. Sorry, but vmk has no official stance on large trades other than telling you that once you click accept, it's a good trade. What Mal and I agree on is doing away with the insane rarity of certain items. If someone is trading 45 items for 1, there's something wrong with the system, imo. Nothing should be worth that much. My best advice to anyone trading rare for inferno, stitch or beta? Make sure all of your most rare pieces are in the first trade window along with the other person's item. If they refuse to trade this way, don't trade. It's a big risk, and one I won't take.

Dara...I've grown accustomed to this attitude. I have been very vocal as to what a CL can and can't do, but it falls on deaf ears. People will think what they want and there are always those who will fan the flames. Try not taking this personally, he is obviously mistaken and nothing you or I say will ever change his mind.
