Hello all. Can anyone who has been to 50's Prime Time recently comment on whether the staff is still "in character"? I have heard recently that they dont do the "no hats at the dinner table" shtick anymore because of guest complaints.

I really hope that isn't the case, because that was one of my favorite parts of DHS and dining at 50PT.

Please let me know of your recent experiences there.

TIA

they did in Nov but you could tell it had been toned down some

We've been to 50s 3-4 times in the past 3 years or so. No difference at all. I don't think it's toned down, but it's just dependent on the server you get, which has always been the case. Some are more "on" than others.

Never been there myself, but there have always been posts about some servers just not being AS into it as others. It really can be a flip of the coin sometimes.

I think it can depend on how into it YOU are too. For instance, at WCC, our server got the vibe we weren't into the antics much so she kept it minimal. I think 50's PT CMs are probably trained to notice the same thing. There's probably a lot of people who eat at 50's PT, not knowing it comes with "antics".

I surely hope not. The antics were great. I couldn't stop laughing when our waiter brought DS(then 13) uneaten green beans back out at dessert time with some whipped cream and sprinkles on it.

I agree that the antics are dependent on how YOU, the customer, acts. If you give off a vibe of not liking it, they won't do anything.

We were there a few months ago and had a great server. It was just the husband and me but he was perfect for us. I think if we had responded differently, he would have toned it down but we played along with lots of things and had a great meal.

I'll report back after our lunch for nine people in a few weeks.

We ate there a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, the servers were more in character than I have seen them in years! Sadly one member of our party had a really bad headache so we asked our server to lay off it. Our server was so sweet about it and regularly stopped by our table just to see if she was feeling any better. We still had fun watching the other servers play with the other tables. Lots of shenanigans to go around. Have fun!

We were there this past Tuesday. Our server was VERY much into it. We had homework - name 18 Disney movies with 1 word in it. Her other tables were given homework too. :)

Depends on your server and also if you have a sense of humor or not. If they think you are not into it - they will stop.

We saw absolutely no antics from any servers (near our table) in May ... but going back in March and requesting a "playful" server. :goodvibes

We were there earlier this month and at first our hostess did tell my 25 yr old son to remove his hat and he looked at me like ..NO WAY...he suffers from alopecia and had bald spots on his head which is why he wears a hat when his hair starts falling out like that. I told him he didn't have to remove it and he didn't.
Our server was a young man who was not in "character" at all, but that was fine with us too:)

We have been twice, most recently mid-November... And it was boooorrrrringggggg! We even encouraged our server yet he was still a big yawn... I had warned our guests, we tried goading our server in to saying/doing something, and nothing... Just a mediocre meal...

I think there are just so many factors that go into how "all in" your server is that guests are not going to have consistent experiences. I love PTC and try to go ever trip, but I expect to, and do have different experiences all the time. I wouldn't go eat there JUST for the antics...the food is tasty and relatively inexpensive for table service, and it's a fun setting whether or not the server is really into the act. Just off the top of my head, I can think of multiple reasons I've seen for a server to not be "on" -

-the restaurant is really crowded (when I went for lunch at 11 AM I received much more attention than when I went for dinner at 6 and the place was jammed)

-the server's station is really crowded

-other tables in the server's station require extra attention (on my last trip to PTC the table next to us had a lot of really specific food allergies and required two visits from the chef...the waiter was coordinating these visits so obviously had less time to "play" with guests)

we were there is july and our server Barbara from Ont was a blast , we got the walkie talkie speech , no elbows , kids had to set the table and my son had to go in the corner while the whole restaurant shame, shame, shamed him , also ketchup written no elbows , it was great , it was out first time , but won't be the last . It was a lunch though .... not sure if it makes a difference , but if you ask for Barbara , you will have fun

We were there two weeks ago and had a blast! Our server took several people's "googlers" away and kept them in her apron the whole meal. We were assigned homework, and she even sat with us a bit and we chatted about our visit.

LOVED. IT.

totally agree. We have been several times and if you give the servers the feeling you like to play they will give you a good show. We have always joked around with the server and have had some real fun. My niece had to go stand in the corner, another was forced to get sit at another table briefly, I had to get up and sing I'm a little teapot and a few other things that I can't currently recall, but always a good time.

We were there on the 21st. Our waiter was only so so. He did make the kids get their elbows off the table and did comment on table manners and the yes sir/no sir, please/thank you. The tables around us were really into it however. The mom at the table behind us apparently did not eat a vegatable that was on her plate and then refused to when she was called out on it so the waitress took her plate away but when she brought dessert the veggie was hidden inside the dessert. She really made a big deal out of it and mom was laughing along too but her kids were the ones that really got a kick out of it. It was funny. I love Prime Time.
