Maureen - Sorry to hear of that. That is unfortunate, and also bizarre, as I have had a dream (nightmare?) of that very same thing happening to me. I think they'd have to arrest me before I would not go on this cruise!!

Do you think an appeal of having a long-standing, non-refundable vacation in place would merit being excused from duty? Couldn't they at least postpone it a week? It's worth a try!

Kamgen did a little jury duty earlier this year. She got her first one postponed to a later date. They rescheduled it for like a month later. She was just unavailable on the first day they set.

I am pretty sure you are given a "get out of jury duty free card" with no explaination needed. You are then given a new date. When you go to jury duty they will give you the option to leave and be rescheduled.

Most courts will readily defer your service, but you should call them first thing on Monday and explain the situation. They will likely ask you to send something in writing to verify your current information, and for their records regarding the excuse, but you should not have a problem since you have a vacation planned and paid for.

Locally, if you showed up and didn't request an excuse in advance they would NOT be happy and you would have a much more difficult time getting deferred.

Of course, Maureen, another option is to actually go to the jury selection and do your best to do everything to NOT be selected...you know, the whole social deviant thing. Or maybe if every one of your answers had "Mickey Mouse" and "Cat 10" and "It's pronounced KEY not KAY!!! ", you'd get somewhere. (Like the Bahamas....) Just a thought.

And as for those margaritas...who needs a blender? Get the premade mix in the gallon bucket. You freeze it, and it defrosts nicely into slushy 'ritas! Sure would be convenient at the ol' port, waiting in a comfy sofa, watching Goofy movies, digging the cup into the bucket for another drink!

I am gonna try to whine, complain and moan to the bartenders on the cruise and see what I can get for free. Now there should be a challenge.

Lynne, a bucket full of margarita mix on ice. Hmmmmmm. Most importantly, does the alcohol content stay the same as it defrosts?

My 4 1/2 year old played his first soccer game today. After he figured out which goal was his, he kind of made his first goal. Okay, he actually tripped over the ball and as he was falling over, the ball rolled into the goal. I am so proud.

Honestly, the anticipation of the docs was better than the real thing.

My husband said ( yes he does exist) that I shouldn't have wrote that getting the documents was not as good as the real thing. But, I thought I was gonna get a big box and when I opened the box fireworks were gonna come out of it. And, Disney music was gonna play. And, I was going to be entertained by a little mouse dressed up in a suit doing a great tap dance. And, there were gonna be samples of cruise food. And, a counselor from the kids club was gonna offer to watch the kids for a couple of hours.

See, we went through Costco travel and I think you don't get those things with Costco!

How did you get your doc's on a Saturday? I didn't think UPS came on Saturday?

They came through the postal service via priority mail. I guess Costco cuts costs wherever they can.

Yes, Beano, I am going on this cruise. You are sooo lucky because the night before the cruise we too are staying at the Radisson. I have requested our room be right next to yours so we can jump on the bed, bang on the walls and yell questions to you. We are also going to the Halloween Party, and I knew Renee wouldn't mind if we tagged along with you guys. So, when a CM at WDW asks you, "How many in your party sir?", just remember to say,
"Eight."

Beano, this is gonna be so much fun!

Maureen- When I had jury duty, I sent in a letter requesting a postponement and there were no problems...so I would not worry. Just do it right away!

Okay, it is Monday morning...where are my docs? LOL!

Rose, I didn't know you were staying at the Radisson also. Cool, now we can meet the day before the cruise. Just so I'll be easy for you to spot - I am 6'7", I weigh 365 pounds, and I have blonde hair. I am also very quiet.

(Ok, the only true part is the weight!)

It'll be great to meet you guys. Tim and Kamy will also be staying there, arriving sometime Saturday afternoon. (We are flying in Friday night).

And no, I didn't get an upgrade - I got a downgrade! But that was my choice. We'll just have to put up with it until we board the Magic.

Beano, I have seen pictures of you guys on Kamy's website. Unless you have gained 200 pounds in the past couple of months, you are NOT 365.

WE are flying in Saturday. WE get into MCO around 5pm. We are renting a car and then stopping at "PUBLIX" just to see what goes on in that store. Hubby is hoping for more than grocery shopping.

It will be nice to meet you all before the cruise. Then we know who to avoid during the cruise.
