So coming up in April i will be attending a conference at the Swan and dolphin -- I am likely going to be staying off site, but i'll figure that out when we see the room cost. I know we want to get to the parks in the evening so i am wondering if the S& D is close enough so that you can walk to Epcot for the evening or hop on the monorail to MK. We will likely have a rental car, but seeing that we will probably be paying for parking at the S&D I don't want to drive to the park to pay additional parking.

yep - walkable or boatable. the walk to the back door at World Showcase is 10 minutes (right through the Boardwalk) or you can take the boat from the S&D dock (15 minutes with stops at Boardwalk and Y&BC). Boat also goes from S&D to DHS if you want to catch Fantasmic or Star Wars fireworks.

You can definitely walk to Epcot.

There are some issues with taking the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. You would have to go in through the International Gateway (Epcot's back door), walk all the way across the park, out the main entrance (Epcot's front door), and over to the Monorail Station. Doable, but kind of a long walk. The bigger problem is at night. The MK is usually open later than EP, so you may not be able to just reverse that process to get to your car. If Hollywood Studios is open late that evening you could take a bus from the MK to the Studios and then walk/boat to the Dolphin. Or take a bus back to the Boardwalk or Yatch Club and walk from there.

My suggestion for your MK day, if you don't mind driving but don't want to pay twice for parking, is to park at HS in the morning and take the boat or walk to the Dolphin, then drive over to MK after the conference.

You can walk to Epcot. You'll want to take the bus if you go to MK - the monorail isn't a good option.

To get to MK from S&D, you would probably just want to take a bus from S&D unless you have park hoppers since you would have to use an entry to Epcot and walk from the WS entrance to the main entrance to get on the monorail.

You can also walk/boat from S&D to DHS and take a bus from S&D to AK.

(WOW, for some reason I was missing many of the prior responses and did not see them until I posted. Sorry if I repeated most of above posts.)
