I'm so full of questions today! Sorry! :rolleyes1

Now that we've decided to definitely take our small children "who won't remember the trip" to Disney sometime this year - we can't decide on a date.

My problem is that I'm a teacher. So, my vacation times are the same times as the peak times. DH and his co-workers take their vacations at the time time when they shut down the business for a week - typically in the summer.

I'm wondering what the weather and crowds would be like that very first week of June this year? The kids will be 21 months and 8 months then.

I'd hoped for an October visit, but I don't think DH can swing it at work because for some reason his co-workers don't want to take summer vacation in the fall. Party poopers!

First of all, I'm so glad you are taking the trip despite the naysayers! Anyway, we were there last year in the beginning of June. It was warm, probably mid 80s. That felt great to us though. We were there once in August (it'll be a while before we try it again in that oppressive heat). Crowds were very manageable. Great time to go. I think that's when we'll be going in '08!

we will be there then as well. We were there last September and that was terribly hot, but there is so much a/c in the rides and shows that it made it easier. I just wonder myself if it will be like septmeber or better or worse? Hope you all have a great time!

I gotta say it is going to be crazy busy and very hot. We went last year may 20th for a week and it was busy busy and about 93 every day.
Plus it is star wars weekends every weekend in June this year and that adds people. Last year star wars weekends started May 19th the weekend we arrived which was great for us as we wanted and did go both weekends we were there but it is VERY busy.
I would wait and go in August and get free dining ....will be just as hot and you might as well get something for it. Plus I don't think it will be significantly busier really.
Just my 2 cents.

We'll be there then as well. I dont think it will be crazy hot......but Im from Texas, so I know crazy hot....:lmao:
We went the first week in June for our honeymoon and it was warm, but not HOT....the only thing kinda icky was the rain every day. You will probably do most of your visiting WDW during the week, so Star Wars shouldnt be too much of a bother....and a lot of school dont get out until June...so I think we're better off than those going mid june, July or August! Dont worry....not everyone can go during off season! This winter has been more severe here than last year...and I think that has some effect on how hot the heat seems.

Hey Heather...We are from Texas and going at this time as well....Guess us Texans all get out of school at the same time and think alike..lol :goodvibes
Have a great trip...and yes we know HOT...Six Flags in July in Arlington..Uh..no thanks...:rotfl2:

We are going June 6-12th. We just expect it will be busy and hot. So try to plan breaks and don't be afraid to go back to the hotel if the kids need to rest. Frankly, I went with my husband in 1998 and we were the ones that needed to nap. I do have a question. Someone mentioned rain. Do you think it is worth carrying around plastic poncho or should we just duck for cover and wait out any rain that occurs ?

We'll be leaving the day before you arrive! I've heard the earlier in June you can go, the less the crowds will be. You're early enough that not all of the schools will be out for the summer yet. Expect it to be hot and plan to get to the parks early and take a break in the afternoon, and enjoy your trip!

To the other poster that asked about rain, it rained on us every day in late August 2005. I forgot the ponchos, so we just dealt with it. It was so hot, the rain cooled us off a little, and we did have an umbrella. I bought a hat to wear, my hair was getting stringy and in my face when it was wet, and the hat helped with that, and keeping the rain off my glasses. It did help to clear out some of the crowds a little.

I mentioned rain. We had no idea about the rain so we bought ponchos there. I will be buying them beforehand at the dollar store and having each child carry theirs in their tummy pack. It didnt rain long any of the days we were there....so if you'd rather just deal with it, Im sure you'll be fine!

DNeph and I will be there for our 3rd trip the 2nd week/end in June (SWW fans!). It has been hot and quite crowded for us in June, but we still have a great time - we get to the parks at opening and leave early afternoon for a swim and rest in the A/C - then back to the parks late afternoon/ early evening for more fun. With little one's those ages, you might want to check out the baby care centers - they are great places to feed the kids and cool off if you get a really hot day. We ALWAYS carry the $1 store disposable ponchos - you never know when you will have a downpour - if you are exiting an attraction, you will be forced out into the rain to make way for those coming behind you - and you will often look/feel like you stood under a bucket of water!! Don't forget to bring a rain guard for your stroller - we always put it over the stroller every time we park it in the summer - there are often quick downpours while you are on an attraction - then you walk out to find a drenched stroller :sad2: . My other tips for little ones in the hot weather - the fan/spritzer bottles to cool them off while waiting in lines, stroller fans, and the ray shade to pull over the stroller for additional shade. If you are prepared, you will have a great trip!
