Attaching Letters to Glitter

I am currently working on a Snow White page and for the title I was hoping to put white or yellow letter on glittered red apples. The only problem is I can't seem to think of a good way to get the letters on the apples and have them stay in place.

My first attempt was to glitter around a letter to be removed later, leaving an empty spot that would shine through the glitter, but the glitter would fall into open space and attach itself to the empty space. Now I'm trying double sided tape but it is just not sticking to the glittered area.

So basically, I'm asking you all, how do you manage to attach things to a glittered surface without it falling off?

Do you have a Xyron? You could run the apples through the Xyron, attach the letters, and then sprinkle the rest of the apple with the glitter.

Stickles are good because they're glitter AND glue I've use them on skittles recently and it worked well

No Xyron, but this may be the perfect excuse to pick one up! For now I think I will try to find some Stickles. Thank you for your help!
