Anyone had any luck getting their money back from ATOL yet? We applied as soon as they went bust.
I am getting very frustrated :headache: at the service we are getting from them as it seems very poor. They have written to us three times asking for copies of statements which they have already received twice and then the last letter is asking for our car hire voucher :idea: - we never got any tickets whatsoever as they went bust 2 weeks before we were due to fly.!
They are also being a bit picky about the statements as they say that our name and address isn't on the sheet.( we paid by debit card) It is on the statement on the front page but as our statements are sometimes 4 sides long they don't print it on every page.
I appreciate that they are busy but you don't even get the chance to talk to anyone and explain the problems you are having.
Someone give me some feedback, please :worship:

I'm so glad it's not just me. Your situation is the same as mine. I've been asked for the same bank statements twice. We were also asked to return the theme park tickets that they claim we recieved. We didn't recieve them.

We were due to fly in October 2008. Fingers crossed we might get back the money at some point.
 
hi we sent everything off to atol in november, we were only claiming the deposit back though as the rest was on a cc, we got our money back at xmas, the cc refunded the money immediately but 'held' it until we sent them the proof and officially credited our account pretty soon after we had done this. our friends who were going at the same time as us, are still waiting but it has transpired that they have paid most of theirs by visa debit card, which although they sent everything to atol and have had correspondence from them a couple of times since , have only just decided to write to them and tell them that they have to claim via their bank/credit card and not atol, so some people are getting the runaround and others arent.

hopefully yours will be sorted soon.
 
We'd booked for Oct 2009, paid Visa Debit card, claim form went off really quickly-the bank re-printed statements for me (Lloyds TSB) and we received our deposit back end Dec 2008.

Thank god someone else is having problems (don't mean that to sound awful), i was wondering whether it was me who was the only one, i sent me stuff off straight away, owed a decent amount of money, i received an initial letter confirming they had received the claim and nothing since, i am so frustrated,

Welcome to my world, sorry but I have to laugh as the tears would flow otherwise......we have been asked twice for park tickets, after the first hilarious request my wife very carefully explained that since we had not actually been on the holiday we did not have our park tickets..........all seemed fine and we thought well maybe now we will get our cash, sadly no, 1 week later we got a letter saying they cannot pay out since we cannot provide the tickets, yet again my wife calmly explained that the tickets did not exist, not now, not then, not ever, all we had was the hotel service check-in voucher which they had and indeed have had since the middle of September.......1 week on and they have not asked for anything else......who knows maybe now they will ask for the keys from the hire car we never got, or the boarding passes for the flight we never took.

Its actually a little bit comforting to know we are not alone, good luck to us all :thumbsup2

This seems really confusing - it says on ATOLs website that if you paid even a small part of your holiday on your CREDIT card you will get your whole refund through your credit card company, but you have to claim through ATOL if you paid any other way. :confused3 :confused3

I think they're stalling as long as they can before paying anything out. We managed to rebook through Virgin so we did get to go our holiday after all (just a few weeks later than planned), but we paid for it on credit card as we were told it shouldn't be too long before we got our refund. Now things are getting a bit tight with the extra payments, not fun!

We got ours a few weeks ago for our florida flights but have not yet got our
Gran canaria flights Refunded from October.
 
Who knows maybe now they will ask for the keys from the hire car we never got, or the boarding passes for the flight we never took.

It's seems that they're refunding the smaller amounts quicker, ie., just deposits or flights only as opposed to the whole 'package holiday' cost. We've not had any further requests for more info for over a week now - don't know if that's a good or bad sign? :confused3

Just to let you know we have now recieved back our full claim. After 3 weeks of not being able to get through on their helpline I was giving up all hope of contacting them and then 2 days later we recieved a letter to say that the money would be in the bank. Not sure whether it was just 'our time' for the claim to be settled or whether the complaining about their poor work standards in our last letter did the trick. Good luck to you !

We are still waiting.

We had a letter yesterday from ATOL asking for my signature. God knows why. My wife was lead name on the booking and paid for the holidat from her bank account. I had nothing to do with the booking.
 
We were refunded most of our claim beginning of this week. We are still waiting for the money for our park tickets - for some reason this seems to confuse them. They kept asking for the original park tickets. I kept telling them we never got them, we just got a hotel service voucher that included the ticket details. They kept asking for it. I kept telling them they already have it.
When I asked why I hadn't had that part of it refunded they initially said I would have to go through ABTA - I said that we ordered the tickets as part of the holiday package when we originally booked the holiday.
Then they said they could refund us the money, then asked for the tickets........where's the pulling your hair out smilie when you need it?
I hope I have now explained it enough for them...

All my money was refunded last week. It only took them 7 months to return MY money.

I'm still waiting for the money for our park tickets - the latest was they required proof that we had to buy new attractions tickets! :confused:
The girl on the phone admitted they have 'misplaced' the service voucher I sent them that had the park ticket details on it (the fact that we bought and paid for 14 day ultimate tickets and it says so all over the TCD invoices I sent them seems unimportant!)
So I had to send photocopies of our rebooked holiday invoices (I'm not sending them originals again!)
2 weeks on - still no sign of my money! :mad:

Anyone else having the same problem?
