Is spending the day at Atlantis really worth it? I have two ds ages 8, 12. Would they love the time and money spent to be able to enjoy the facilities? Are the water slides that great? I can do the excursion for the same amount of money it costs to book a room at CS and enjoy the whole Atlantis experience. Also, how do you get to CS once you have docked? This will be our first Disney cruise and don't know when or if we'll ever get back this way again. I need your guidance. BTW our cruise date is the end of April aboard the Wonder.

No, you can'tuse the slides on the excursion. None of the Disney excursions give you full access to the resort. The documentation is very misleading on this, the beach time included is not in the water facilities (slides, etc..) of Atlantis.

The only way to get full use of the resort is to reserve a room at Atlantis or Comfort Suites.

My personal opinion of the amenities of Atlantis from a waterpark point of view is this. It's about equal to Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach Club prehaps a little bit more. It is not on the level of say Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, or the local waterpark you have near home.

That said, Atlantis is worth the visit the resort is goregous. If you intend to soak up the ambiance as much as play on the slides, sure, go for it. A word of warning, unlike Stormalong Bay, the waterpark part of the resort is sprawling and involves a lot of walking, plan on watershoes if you go.

As for getting over there, there are cabs right at the dock that will drop you at the door of either place.
