We are traveling with my parents to the east carribean aug 10. They are interested in visiting Atlantis but are wondering if there is an easy way to get there and back on their own without taking the tour. Any suggestions? Is there a fee to wander through on their own? If they do take the tour through Disney, are they able to leave at any time? They're concerned about getting over tired or maybe just wanting to go their own way as they choose.

Thanks!:earsgirl:

Assume you are going on the Wonder 4 Day Bahamas Cruise and not the Eastern Carribean which does not stop at Nassau.

Once in Nassau you can get a taxi to the Atlantis resort fairly cheap. Once there you can roam the shopping areas and casino area free of charge. However, if you want to tour "The Dig" you will have to pay a fee. Likewise if you want to use the pools, slides, beach etc.

We were just at Atlantis off the Wonder last Friday. We took a cab over (about a 10 minute drive) that was $4 per person. You can indeed walk around as much as you like and also play in the casinos. We did both. You can pay $25 per adult ($20 per child) to walk around the DIG and look at the fish. It was pretty neat. We liked it. If you want to use the pools, beaches, and slides, you will have to rent a day room which is a steep price, or you can rent a dayroom at the Comfort Suites which is across the road a ways and use the Atlantis facilities for free, but the Comfort Suites are still expensive (around $130 if you prebook ahead of time) and I thought it was quite a hike over to Atlantis, (probably a mile or so.) We didn't do the dayroom thing as we knew that we would be at Castaway Cay the very next day.

elamusing, can you tell me what floor the shopping areas & casino are on? My DH won't get on elevators but our DD, age 18 wants to try out the casino for just a little bit. Thanks!

Donna- they are on the main floor but I can't remember the tower where we were dropped - not the Royal Tower. As a matter of fact - they were right inside the door where the cab dropped us off. And go straight through down like 4 steps and there is the casino. It is very easy to find everything. We got a cute squishy snowglobe with a pretend jellyfish in it for my DS5 for $10. But the t-shirts were VERY expensive. ($25- 30). There are lots of "fancy" stores too and the staff was very friendly and helpful - almost up to cast member Disney standards! :)

THanks, elamusing! That is great. My DH can now join us in the casino. For some reason, I thought the casino was the part that goes between the two towers.
