I know I have read on the discusssion board before that if you rented a day room at the Comfort Inn near Atlantis that you could use their pools for free. How does this work and what else is there to do at Atlantis? Any feedback? Is it worth it?

Also, my DDs expressed an interest in having their hair braided. How much can I expect to pay and where is the best place to have this done? I read something in a book that I should be careful of lice!!!! Is this true.

How old are your DD's? Many children say that the braiding is excruciatingly painful! Are your kids' heads overly sensitive? I think you will find price ranges from $1 - $2 per braid.

Hope someone can answer your other questions. Have a great cruise!

We got our DD's, 4, hair braided on Nassau. There were people holding up signs at Port when you come off the ship. We didn't want to do it first thing so we ended up gettting it done from lady in town in the Straw Market. Well, part way done anyway. After a few braids a police officer came and took our hair braider and all her beads. Apparently it is only legal to do hair braiding in Nassau at a beauty shop. Another girl said she would take us to a shop, but again just plopped us down around the corner. After about half her head was braided my DD started freaking out that her head hurt and we ended up just paying the $2 a cornrow and taking our DD back to the ship and taking out the braids. I don't think the women were rough with her I just think she wasn't really ready to sit all that time and have the tight cornrows.

My DD did get her hair braided the next day on Castaway Cay. We paid $1 per braid, but not for cornrows just small braids with beads on the end. Cornrows were $2 each. There is an area on Castaway Cay were all the hair braiders are. There were a number of hair braiders. I saw lots of people getting braids done, but never saw lines. If we ever get to go again I would just wait till we got to Castaway Cay for the braids.

Hope that helps.

On our first disney trip...

The counselors at the kids clubs told us to wait until CC.

It is cheaper than Nassau $1.00 for individual braids, $2 for a row...more sanitary...

Some of the women at CC have been there every year since '99 and do a good job.

Yes, It does pull against your scalp...but the tighter the better.

I bring along a satin sleeping cap for at night because then your braided hair fuzzes less.

(I wouldn't leave it in longer than two weeks though. My daughter left hers in for three weeks last time and she had such a fuzz head afterwards.)

As for the day room at the Comfort Suites- we did this last week. It was $212 total. You get a day room at the Comfort Suites- to change and refresh- then you go over to Atlantis and can use all their pools, slides and beaches. You can see some parts of the aquarium, too. I'm not sure if you can see the whole aquarium though. We thought it was worth it for four of us DH, DD 9 and DS 3. They had many different waterslides for all ages and the pools were nice.

If you don't want to wait until CC, sign up for an appointment on the ship. My niece had hers done on the very first evening so she got to enjoy them for the whole cruise, didn't have to mess with her hair and no one bothered her at Nassau!!!!!

If you look in the 1st Navigator (look hard, it is sometimes hard to spot), it will tell you when to make the appointment. Usually, it is around 5/5:30 the first night outside of the WDW theather, by the shops.
