How do you think Hurricane Bill is actually going to affect us?

Crazy weather gets me excited and I actually enjoy it. So crazily I am hoping it hits us, but I think it will just brush past us and be a pain in the --- bringing lots of rain and not much more.

I think it will be regarded as the storm that never was.

I'm in municipal government, so we need to have an EMO meeting. At this point, its hard to get too excited about it.

I work for Environment Canada and I am not convinced that it is not going to cause us problems but we should all know more tomorrow.

I don't care as long as it doesn't slow down! It is currently supposed to hit NL on Monday afternoon. We leave 5 am Wednesday morning for WDW. When we booked this trip several people thought it was bad to go to WDW during hurricane season. If we can't get out of NL because of Bill disrupting flights here........:upsidedow

To be honest I haven't thought much about it. I'm in central NB - maybe if I was closer to NS or Yarmouth I'd be more concerned. The weather network isn't showing anything

From what I've read, nothing has been issued yet because Bill is still considered to be too far away. So I believe that once it passes Bermuda, there will be an official announcement.

However, people here in my part of NS are already starting to hunker down. I don't expect that we'll get much more then heavy winds and rain - so as long as it doesn't cause major damage (or even worse - injuries), it isn't going to give me any reason to worry.

At worst, our waterfront might see some damage. Good thing that the Buskers are over. Of course, it might end up far worse then we imagine, since our really warm water temperatures are preventing the storm from moving away from us, or reducing it's speeds.

Hope for the best, I guess!

I'm going to take in the birdfeeders and lawn furniture an tie up the garbage can and compost bin. I'm more concerned with losing electricity, though.

Oh wait, I nearly forgot to store up hurricane food! Snack food here I come!popcorn::

Stay safe, people. And try to keep the tourists off the rocks at Peggy's Cove.

I work for an insurance company and tell you all that our property reps are on high alert - especially in coastal areas.

I work in the auto section so not overly concerned - at least not until Monday mornig when the ^%#@ hits the fan

People were buying water at the grocery store. Zellers has hardly any flashlights left.
Some events have been rescheduled.

We will figure out what to do with our stuff that is outside tomorrow.
I have tried to contact the next door neighbors mom because they are away and have a lot of outdoor stuff.

I have called my mom who is a senior and lives in an apartment building to see if they want to come stay with us, would like to borrow our extra cell phone or at the very least would like me to take her out for supplies.

We lived through Jauna and no power for 3 or 4 days, I am sure we will make it through this one too.

Don't forget to have a phone on hand that doesn't need to be plugged in or recharged! And charge everything that neeeds charging!

One of the best pre-Juan prep things I did was to bake a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies - might do that as this time as well!

At this stage, it looks like we here are in for a wet and windy Monday!
Hope it keeps shifting to the east instead!

I'm in Cape Breton and we are now under rainfall warnings, Tropical Storm warnings and Hurricane watch. It certainly looks like we will get lots of rain and wind but people are prepared. All the outdoor furniture has been stored and we have water, batteries, propane for the BBQ (in case of power outage), cash, and gas in the car. Now we just have to wait...hopefully, it will be over with no difficulties! :goodvibes

We're on the southern tip of NS and bill passed through here between 5am and noon. Nothing too spectacular, some rain and 45mph wind. (normal for us)
It's now breezy and sunny with some awesome waves breaking on shore.
Bill took all the fog with him :thumbsup2 and I'm thankful to him for that. We've had a very foggy summer.

Pretty much all done here in Halifax...enjoying a brisk cooling breeze through the house. Thinking good thoughts for Cape Breton and Newfoundland, and especially that it's completely blown out for graceandphilipsmom!

Looks like our turn is beginning here in St. John's. A couple rumbles of thunder and at least 1 flash of lightning, and a heavy shower so far.
Crossing my fingers it will all be over in the morning! And that there'll be relatively little damage/flooding for anyone!
