Just looked and our Delta flight for September had time changes. What they have us on now only has a 47 minute layover in Atlanta. We did have an hour and 17 minutes before. Is this enough time to make our plane change? I have never flown through Atlanta so I do not know the aiport at all. It is just DH and I. Looks like the other option would be to have a 3 hour layover. Haven't called to talk to them yet because I can't decide if 47 minutes is risking it. We are on the first flight out of Wichita that day.

We have done a 47 minute layover in Atlanta, but I don't recommend it. We barely made our connecting flight, and we pretty much ran to it. Atlanta is huge!

On your first flight, get seats as close to the front of the plane as possible. You won't have time to waste stuck behind a bunch of slow to move people. Get off, check the boards, and go. Don't stop for anything! If you make it to your next gate with time to spare, then use the bathroom or grab a snack.

There is a subway system that links the councourses together. Use it to get around, do not try to walk the whole way.

Go to the Atlanta airport's web site and get familiar with it. It is easy to navigate once you know where you are going. Bu as I said earlier, the airport is huge and can be a bit intimidating for first-timers.

It is a tough decision. I'm not sure I would do take the shorter layover again, but I know I would be tempted to.

If it is just you and your husband I would do it for sure. It's tight but doable.

Even though ATL is a jungle in my opinion, 47 minutes is sufficient to make the connection especially without kids. What you should really worry about is that your first flight gets in on time...there is may a times a bottleneck over ATL skies so there are many delays during peak times!!

You should be fine. One advantage with Atlanta is they have almost hourly flights to Orlando. So if you miss the connection, you could get on the next one.

If you need to change concourses, follow the signs to the middle of the concourse and there will be escalators down. After you get down to the next level, you can walk through the tunnel or take the train to your new concourse. Then back up the escalators. I've found Atlanta to be one of the easier airports to connect through because all of the concourses are in a row. Unlike a place like MSP where the concourses are sometimes far apart and not easy to find.

YIKES
Remember although your ticket says you have a 45 minute layover your really only have 30 minutes. They close the doors to the aircraft 15 minutes before the flight time.

So depending on how long it takes you to get off of you inbound flight, and find your gate you could be cutting it close!
My suggestion would be to sit as close to the front of the plane on your income flight so you are one of the first ones off.

Since delta changed the time you may have a chance of calling them and being put on another flight for free.

Well I am just too nervous for that short of time so I called and got them switched. Kind of stinks because we were landing at 12:30 and now it is 2:30. That will put us in the parks latter that day but I would rather not have the worry if we will make it or not. MK has extra magic hours that night so we will still be able to spend several hours there.
