When the Atlanta Braves have Spring Training at WWoS,do they stay at a Disney resort, and,if so,which one?Are they out and about at the parks during Spring Training? Thanks. :)

I don't have any idea where they stay. As far as if they go about Disney, the players themselves would have limited time given the daily workouts and games. Maybe some nights you might see a few players roaming with their families. I do know that some players have shown up in the past at the ESPN Club for interviews with ESPN's Baseball Tonight show.

BTW, I'm a Cleveland Indians' fan. There is a lot of talk in Cleveland that in the next year or two, the Indians will move their spring training to Orlando and share the Disney complex with the Braves, including the stadium. I hope this happens.

i'm a big braves fan and i went to ST last year, so i can somewhat answer your questions.

in the early days of the braves having spring training at disney, the players stayed at coronado springs resort. as years went by, most of the "name" players wound up renting houses, apartments, etc. because they're there for almost a month and a half. from what i can remember reading in ChopTalk (the braves' official magazine), those ML players who do stay in hotels along with all of the minor leaguers, stay in a hotel that's on Disney property, but not a Disney owned hotel. I'm thinking maybe the Days Inn, but I'm not sure. You may want to check the braves official message board; someone on there probably knows for sure.

ETA: there is always a lot of pictures of the Braves in the parks or other Disney facilities. year before last, there was a lot of pictures of Mike Hampton & 2 minor leaguers on Tower of Terror and RocknRoller Coaster... Marcus Giles used to do a lot of the fishing... Bobby Cox does Richard Petty Driving Experience... I think I remember reading too that a lot of the younger guys go to Pleasure Island at night. The AJC usually has photos of them at the parks or whatever else, but I haven't checked this year for that.

I remember seeing on the news early this season a sports announcer on a local Atlanta station interviewing a couple of Brave players riding MS and TT at Epcot, so they do spend some time in the parks. This was like the 1st or 2nd day they arrived there this year.

If any of you Braves fans are taking in Spring Training -- just be sure to tell Scott Thorman (minor league Braves player with Missisippi team) that his pastor says "Hi". :wave2:

Scott was one of the Braves' 1st round draft picks back in 2000, wasn't he? If I'm thinking of the right person, I've read a lot about him before in ChopTalk, Braves sites, etc. I don't think I've ever seen him play before, and I won't be at ST this year, but I hope he has a phenomenal season. :goodvibes All my favorite minor leaguers are slowly being traded away :sad2: , so I haven't been keeping up with it as much as I used to (even though I live very close to the Richmond Braves).

All that aside, if any of you like baseball period, you should go to ST at WDW. The ballpark's beautiful, and there's nothing quite like having the option of going to the parks and going to see games in the same day (last year I left POR in the am, went to AK, then a game, then MGM, then DTD; how can you possibly beat that?). :flower:

Oh, and to the OP, it might be somewhere on the WDW's site where the Braves stay; I think it used to be anyway.
