Looking at a map of ATL I see concourses from A to D with two more on either end. It seems we'll land at C36 and depart from A2 with 28 minutes between. I've heard horror stories about getting around this airport and my 78 yr old mom will be with us. She can walk ok but a jog is out of the question. Will we be OK?

We did ATL both times last year. Each time we had to go from A concourse to E concourse...basically one end to the other. We made it in less than 10 minutes.

ATL is not as bad as people make it out to be. Or at least I didn't think so. Yeah, there are a lot of passengers. But that train system is awesome. Just go to the middle of the concourse and take the escalator down. Get on the train heading in the right direction. They have a marquee that shows how long it is until the next train arrives. I think they run every 2 minutes. It probably takes maybe 30 seconds between concourses. Then when you get off, you get on the escalator going up and find your gate.

28 minutes is cutting it pretty tight. Not in moving around ATL, but I was thinking about any delay in your incoming flight would really be a bummer.

I find Atlanta a LOT easier then some airports (Dallas for example) The actual hard part is if you have to deal with LEAVING this airport, but you don't have to do that.

Follow the signs to the train. There will be walkways! DON'T be tempted to walk. Unless you are a world record runner, the train is faster! 28 minutes is actully under Delta's suggested minimum, but I have done it often.

As for your mother, you can request either a wheelchair or a cart. The cart will just deliver you to the area where you take the escaltor/elevator to the train. A skycap with a chair will go with you all the way. I would suggest the chair, personally!
