After induction, take a bagel and scoop out all the insides (leave just the outer layer). Put in the toaster and then fill with cream cheese..... YUM!!!!

That would be good to know, Rhonda. I wonder if there is a way to know how many carbs per ounce of a bagel, that way we could figure this carb count out.

Wait, well, duh, I guess there is a way, weigh a bagel and divide the number of carbs by the number of ounces. I can be so dumb sometimes :teeth:

Oooh does this mean I can have my bagel in the morning now??:teeth::p

:):)

One more week Beanie- then you can have your bagel! :p

Not neccesarily one more week. I am STILL in Induction, I see a lot of people thinking that it MUST end after a week. This is not true, and may give people a false sense that the weight will continue to fall off quickly even after stopping Induction.

(Just my unasked for 2 cents) :)

I thought induction was 2 weeks??? Would someone please clarify for this caught in between Curves and Atkins person?  Thank you!

I never go off induction....Atkins says the more you have to loose, the longer induction can last. There is no rule that it MUST be only 2 weeks.

The Induction phase lasts a MINIMUM of 2 weeks. You are told to stay at Induction levels as long as you want to continue rapid weight loss, because as soon as you move out of Induction, the weight loss slows. I have remained on Induction so far for the entire 10 weeks that I have been on the plan, and intend to remain on it until I am within 10 pounds or so of my goal (as recommended by Dr. Atkins). He counsels to stay in induction as long as you are not horribly bored with the food choices, as you will be losing faster, then to move into the other phases as you approach goal, so as to make the transition into a LIFETIME of healthy eating easier.

:D

Hope that clears it up a bit!

Bean if you want to try this bagel idea after your second week, just count the carbs in your total daily allowance of 20 or less. That's what I do, anyway. I just restrict my carb intake to <20 grams but eat foods that aren't on the induction list.

When you hit about 40 or 50 grams of carbohydrate intake you will be knocked out of ketosis. I want to stay in the induction stage as long as possible, I have so much to lose.

I don't think one plain 3 1/2 inch bagel is worth 36.3 carbs, it's not worth it to me, at any rate.

Atkins makes a low carb bagel that has 6 impact carbs in one half bagel. I don't think a bagel is that important to me either.

well, that's very interesting. I always thought Curves and Atkins were similar, and they are , but certainly not in the timing. On Curves- your in the <20 carbs for only 2 weeks- that's phase 1. Phase 2 is between 40-60 carbs for as long as you lose weight. As soon as you plateau- like the 1st day you don't lose any weight, you go into Phase 3 which is eat whatever the heck you want- don't carb count. Do that until you gain back 3 lbs.- which for me is overnight. Then start at phase 1 arain and repeat until you lose all the weight you want. I can see where the Curves plan lends a little more variety of foods the the Atkins plan does, but I wonder which ones weight loss is faster?
