My DH is a serious Atkins/Low Carber ,me not so serious(I plan on indulging in a few carb while at WDW LOL) I would like to know places where we can get him snacks in the different parks. I know there are turkey legs in MK and rotissieri chicken in AK. I'm thinking snack places or counter service not sit down. (I did PS Ohana's LOL) wdwig has an essay on low carb in WDW but I'm looking for more info. Thanks

I was using Atkins last year while in WDW, and didn't have any problems; while you might not get what people consider "snack" food, there are plenty of things to eat like hot dogs or hamburgers, and hold the bun and ketchup; small salads are ok; just watch the dressings.
One of the best things I likes about Atkins is that it's very easy to tell if something has a lot of carbs or not, without seeing the nutrition info; sweets are out; soda, candy, ice cream, etc. while protein/fat is usually ok; I even had chicken fingers, without sauce. I just scraped a lot of the breaded coating off.
Good luck, and don't forget to indulge yourself once in a while; save some carbs for a little ice cream, or you'll feel cheated.;)

I also eat low-carb and would like to hear anyone's ideas.

I plan on eating burgers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches without the bun. I think there are places where you can get a grilled chicken breast on a salad.

There are roasted nuts in some of the parks, I think - anyone remember where?

Deb Wills' WDWIG site is great for checking menus ahead of time.

My big problem is breakfast. I tend to eat scrambled eggs & bacon or an omelet. These are just about impossible to come by without going to a sit-down restaurant.

I often carry packets of sunflower seeds or peanuts in my belt pack. I have string cheese in a cooler in the room for a quick snack. I usually have low-carb tortillas with deli ham or turkey, and mayonnaise in the room for a quick "sandwich" type snack. If you can find some good beef jerky, it's very portable for snacks.

My mom (DM?) and I are on the Atkins diet together and my family is going to the world in June; Since staying on it is my goal, I went to wdwig and looked at the menus; most of the counter service is listed as well as prices, so I made each of us a little brocure with what we could eat. If anyone wants it, I'd be glad to email it to you :) Just PM me or email me at snowwhitekisses7@aol.com :D

I cant wait!

I have been on a program similar to Atikins. It's Beverly Hills Weight Loss. I lost 52 lbs in 4 months on it, and have pretty much maintained the past year, except when I am on vacation. Disney is the one place that for however long I am going to be truly doesn't matter. I ate what ever I wanted, and just knew I had to deal with the consequences when I came back. Not a problem, once back I lost that 6 lbs I gained that week in about 2 weeks, without really trying. I found drinking allot of water helps to at least get rid of the salt. Anyway, just my .02

I just wanted to let you guys know about the WISH board, which is on the Community Board (Just for Fun...). There are alot of Atkins people there and they would be glad to give you some ideas! ;) Hop on over and check it out! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I am on Atkins now but actually plan on *not* following it for the 6 days I'm in WDW. I will get back on induction when I return from my trip. For all of you good doobies that plan on sticking to it, I'd suggest packing some Atkins Advantage bars and make sure you drink plenty of water. Atkins also has great candy bars if your hubby has a sweet tooth. I find my appetite is very small when I'm on Atkins anyway so it's easier to resist the temptations. Good luck!!:bounce:

I just thought I'd let ya'll know that all the kinks are worked out from my website and any of you who asked me to email it, I hope that it worked. If anyone else wants the actual email, I'd be happy to forward it to you! Oh, and here's a link to my webpage again! I hope it helps all of you :) Oh, and good luck!
