All contracts expire in 2042 (except SSR)
We are now at 14 years

At what point will you attempt to sell, to recoup some of your money?
OR will you go the distance to the very end?

Sign me curious... :fish:

I won't sell to recoup any money. At this point, I think I'll keep my contracts until they expire. If we get tired of WDW for a certain amount of time, we'll use our points at HH and on Concierge Collection choices, or trade into II. I consider that original investment to be money well spent, but also to be spent permanently, the same way I'd spend money on a new car and keep it for its useful lifetime.

I plan to hanging on until the end, if I live that long!

I'll hang onto it until I'm too old, and then our "kids" (who will all be past middle age by then) will get to enjoy it.

We plan to hang in for the long haul... We just bought in, so we figure we'll be about 90+ and will have given it to one of our four kids. Surely at least one of them will enjoy it until it runs out.

Like a previous poster said, we think of this as money spent like a purchase, not as an investment.

We are in for the long haul.

But thats a good question if you could say sell your BWV points and pick up a NEW DVC say a monorail sight for a small increase .

Too early to tell at this point. With 36 more years to go who can say what I'll do. A lot also depends upon when DVC announces what will happen in 2042.

We purchased SSR with the intent to hold it until the end of the contract or the end of our lives, whichever comes first (and for us, that'll be one interesting horse race - pun unintended). However, we're three years into it with 47 left, so it's hard to tell what the future brings. (We've lived in several homes where we were "sure" we'd be there for a looong time but ended up moving....)

I also hold out no small amount of hope for the eventual creation of SSRSMG: Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa Memorial Gardens.... ;)

Thats a good question.......As of now I'm in it for the long haul but if air fare gets to the point that its to expensive to get to Florida than I may change my mind. But with the young kids and the wife wanting a third, owning DVC will do nothing but help my WDW trips. Plus I love it down there.

I'll second this! With any luck, we won't get too old to enjoy a trip to WDW in our life time. Realistically, our kids will probably enjoy the last few years with their families. :)

I plan to be there the day it all comes to an end. I will be 97 years old. My children will be retired by then so we can all go for one last time. I will probably buy into whatever Disney is offering at that time.

I'm in for the long haul, too! :thumbsup2

I plan on keeping it for as long as possible. If we get tired of Disney we will trade out and such.

From where I sit saying "I'll hold it for the duration" seems a little silly. Who knows what will happen over the next 35 years. Situations could arise forcing you to sell or a change of direction at WDW and DVC could cause you to want to sell.

I own two of the "older" DVC resorts or DVC 1, whatever you choose. I will continue to do what I've done all along. Monitor resale prices, look closely at the new resorts as they come available and decide what makes sense. If I could jump on a new offering with a longer term for the same or slightly more money that seems like a no brainer. I was considering it with SSR but after my recent trip, that is out.

I'll likely sell and buy back in at a new hot property with monorail or direct theme park access. I will not hold this until the end.

If I sold now I would make some money and only have paid less than my annual dues for my trips. It looks like the deal of the century right now. I will sell before this formula changes.

Thanks,

Bill

But hopefully I will outlive the contrcat --but if there is an extension :lmao: with underground rights :cool1:

i have owned since 93 - so I have gotten my money out of it...

I still love Disney... I guess if I stopped loving WDW I might consider selling my DVC.

I definitely need to branch out - I even traded my other timeshares for more Disney....

but until I retire I just can't see going out West to the national parks...
