Just a quick HI  from POR. We're in the Alligator Bayou building--took me a day to figure my way around, but I think I've got it now. Resort seems to be full, but everyone (so far) has been happy and polite (except for an unusual # of toddler meltdowns I seem to have witnessed). Bus service is slow, though--we were spoiled last year by staying at a monorail resort--I think that's the way we'll go again in the future.
Started our trip with 2 days in Clearwater Beach--at the Hilton--beautiful. Also packed, but didn't feel crowded. Highly recommend that area/resort for a beach fix added on to Disney.
Arrived at POR yesterday--after checking in, headed for MK. Pirates is amazing--waits, too! (40 minutes!) Several delightful Jacks added to feast my eyes on. Also love the Davy Jones and Barbossa additions. Lots of colorful tour groups, but no problems. MGM today--crowds again manageable. Enjoyed our lunch at Sci-Fi and the "Lights, Motors, Action!" show.
For all of you coming here soon--weather-wise, this has been a nice trip so far! In fact, I'd say it's cooler here now than it was during our trip June 2005. (Of course, I just came from a heatwave in the Midwest, so maybe I was acclimated.) Rained yesterday for about a half hour--no biggie.
One other thing to add--those of you who come to WDW year after year--I get it now. We were just here last June, and I'm nowhere as commando as I used to be when we only visited every 3 or 4 years. We're really relaxing this time around--enjoying ourselves. Every year is the way to do Disney! (If only that were possible financially!) :sunny:

I'm first! We're staying at the Alligator Bayou in Sept. Sounds great so far! Did you bring your own laptop or are you on at a Disney location. This is a good idea(live Trippies!)...Breaking News from the Alligator Bayou, Toddler Meltdowns at an all time high due to slow Disney Bussing...Stay Tuned! :happytv:

DisneyDotty,
My family & I are planning the same thing you did. We are starting off our vacation also at Clearwater Beach from July 31st - August 8th & we are staying at the Marriott Suite Resort on Sand Key. Then once we check out on on the 8th, it's off to Walt Disney World & the Contemporary until August 19th.

I love both Riverside and Port Orleans french quarter. That was our resort by choice for quite a few visits. Five to Dixie Landings and about the same to Port Orleans. Thanks so much for your report. Nice to be able to take your time and smell the roses......

Hi all! :wave2: It IS fun to be able to send live reports. We have our laptop and bought a day's worth of internet here at POR. I do love this resort--the grounds are beautiful, and even though Old Man Island is a fun pool, the kids prefer the quiet pool near our room! (Go figure!)
Off to try the breakfast at the Grand Floridian! :sunny:

Great to have a live TR to read! Can't wait to read the real thing *hint hint* when you return home!
Have a blast!

How expensive is the one day worth of internet?

sounds awesome to me. SO inquiring minds want to know the cost of this too.....thanks for any info

Hi all again!
Internet is $9.95/24 hours.
We're at the Dolphin now--the weather is still rainy in the afternoon/evening, but overall the heat is not too unbearable, and it's nice and cool after the rain.
Crowds seem to be diminishing...
Gosh, I love this place. I could live here... (Disney, that is...Any rooms available in the Castle? :teeth: )

I love the Dolphin too......thanks for the info on the net system too. Have fun and tell the Mouse the Pig will be there in December........thanks again for the live report
