We're in Disney World this week (staying at Windsor Hills Resort) and after the kids saw "A Bugs Life" at Animal Kingdom they've refused to ride ANYTHING inside. ANYTHING! I've just about sat down and cried. It's a Small World, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, nothing.

We got a baby sitter from Fairy Godmother's babysitting service (awesome Lady) and we went back to Disney Hollywood Studios and rode almost everything, just the two of us.

Anyone else deal with this? We have one more day left to use and I want to go back to the Majic Kingdom tomorrow but my husband says he's done. He doesn't want to go back at all.

Just wish I could convince the girls that we would not take them on any scary rides. Sigh.

TIA,

Sarah

go to u-tube and show them some of the fun rides, its a small world, adventures of pooh, peter pan etc......maybe that will help, good luck!!

We've tried you tube and even when the girls watch it and say they'll ride it; when we actually get to the park they refuse to get onto it. I don't want to force them to ride anything for a couple of reasons:
1. Don't want to ruin Disney for them forever;
2. None of the other patrons should have to hear our kids crying the entire ride.

I am at a lose. I think if we'd started with a different show instead of It's a Bugs Life maybe they would have been fine? I don't know.

I do know that it will be a very long time before we come back to Disney World. We can't afford to spend the money just for Character signatures alone.

Have you tried asking them what exactly they are afraid of on the rides? Loud noises, the dark, unexpected things, ect? Maybe if you address their fears and assure them about the "safe" rides, they will think about riding.

Also, perhaps you could "reward" them for going on a ride? Like promise to get them a Dole Whip or their favorite snack for attempting a ride!

Good-luck! :) I hope everything goes well for the rest of your trip! :)

awww that is really sad! why wouldn't they want to go? unless they were scared, my niece was very frightened of voyage of the little mermaid... but she was only 1 year old at the time.

I used to give my DD the glow-in-the-dark sticks and those little flash lights to hold so she'd feel comfortable on dark rides.

I'm sorry it was not the trip you'd hoped for :( that is just not fun for any of you.
