At the Airport Hotel now...

Loving your trip report...you sound so laid back and easy going.....my kind of a gal :thumbsup2

Pray tell...what is the lawnmower tree????

Guess what? I met my first non-virtual DISser this morning! Penny in the elevator! Penny and friend looked totally turned out for a day in the parks – resort casual at its best. Of course, I looked like Ishkabibble – wearing horrible odds and ends out of the bottom of my suitcase, big wild humidity hair pulled back in a rubber-band, AND carrying a sack full of dirty clothes. So much for making a good first impression – which is pretty much the story of my life.:confused3

It was so awesome to run into you in the elevator! And you looked great :)

We got in last night after a bit of a flight delay, and bumpy ride into Atlanta :faint:

First stay at the V@WL and we loved it! Great trip, very low crowds Sunday through Wednesday at all parks, beautiful weather up until Thursday.

Sorry for the gap in my posts -- I couldn't log on at the Orlando airport and once I was home, I was waaaaaay too busy catching up on stuff and messing in other people's business here. :lmao: I will try to get pics posted later on today or tomorrow (including the lawnmower tree, Rosie ;))

Lappy and I are in bed, under a big ole pile of blankets right now. (I COULD get up and build up the fire in the woodstove but I'm SO not feeling it. I'm nice and warm right now...why should I get up and get cold just so I can get warm again later?!?!:confused3 )

Magic Kingdom on Wednesday was tons of fun -- as we fully expected. We saw Princess Tiana's parade and OMG! What a pretty girl she is!

The girls made me go on BTRR. (I'm not a big roller coaster fan but this one's actually pretty fun -- even for a wuss like me.)

We did Hall of Presidents. The last time I was in there was during the Reagan administration (dragged in by my dad). I had been looking forward to seeing President Obama -- but I found I was still a little bit put off by the presentation's open-armed embrace of Manifest Destiny. Interestingly, this was one of the few attractions where I'd say I was well under the average audience age. I was particularly touched by one couple -- both frail and elderly (she was in a walker) who said that Hall of Presidents was their favorite stop in all of WDW.

I gotta say -- I thought the holiday decorations were outstanding. The Mickey wreaths and garlands were everywhere and the Castle! OMG! THE CASTLE! I have never seen anything like that in my life!!! SO FREAKIN' GORGEOUS !!!!

We watched Wishes at the Poly and had dinner at OHana. Yummy Scrumptious Fabulousness as always. :goodvibes We all got leied. (tee-hee). ;)

Sarah's plane left early on Thursday. After checking out (gotta love a balance due of $0.00 :goodvibes ), AnnaMarie and I did a little last minute shopping at the Wilderness Lodge Mercantile and then gorged ourselves silly on Mickey Waffles at Whispering Canyon. We got to do the ketchup thing. So silly. So fun. :rotfl:

My flight to Phoenix was packed -- lots of folks traveling for the holidays. Happy excited vibe overall. In San Antonio, a young couple with a baby wearing the cutest little Rudolph the Reindeer outfit imaginable boarded the plane and sat next to me. They were headed to San Jose and all I could think about was how thrilled that little baby's grandma was going to be, to see and hold him for the first time. :goodvibes

Like I said earlier, I'm going to try to get some pictures posted later on today or tomorrow. It's light now -- so I guess I oughta head out to the living room and get the wood stove cranked up. The boys split kindling yesterday and Mr. Chuck got up and fed it around 1:00 so it IS my turn... I guess. :sad2: (Sometimes, central heat does NOT seem like that bad an idea....)

Have a Great Day, Everybody!

Deleted because I had a brain-pooty while trying to post a pic -- please see below

The lawnmower tree is a pine tree at Fort Wilderness that grew around an old push mower. Back in the early 1980's when I saw it for the first time, there was considerably more lawnmower showing. This picture is from 2006 -- back when it was still a tree rather than a stump. What can I say? We're nerds...:confused3

I need to offer my public apology to TuckandStuiesMom ... I didn't get her pm until a few minutes ago because I didn't bring my laptop with me on the trip (hey, I'm a geek so I spend enough time with computers!). But I did look for her!! I also stopped by the Poly to meet Conck but he wasn't there and I couldn't get in to see Mike since he's surrounded by security now. ;) I got home last night and had a great trip!

We also had a funny thing happen with our room service meal. There was a small creamer size pitcher of a viscous dark brown liquid adjacent to the chocolate cake.

Chocolate sauce – Right?

Nope!

Barbecue Sauce!!!! NOT the best add-on to a nice slice of chocolate cake –

:rotfl2:

No you don't, Sweetie Pie! WDW is ONE BUSY PLACE!!!!! It's amazing to me that anyone actually meets up with anybody there... unless you're super organized like TSG. :)
