Listening to the discussion of AT&T coverage at WDW - it reminds me of trying to get TV reception with a pair of rabbit ears.:happytv: You only get reception while you are holding it in a certain position and when you let go you lose it so you end up watching TV while positioning the rabbit ears....

Some people have really excellent coverage.

I have a lot of trouble with it at home and for about 5 miles around the house. Phone doesn't ring, don't get the voicemails all the time. Sometimes I do, other times I don't.

I drop a LOT of calls. The people close to me who don't have iPhones will never get them. They all swear my phone sucks. I keep saying, "It's the AT&T coverage, not the phone!" but they don't care. And they keep pestering me to get rid of the thing.

I don't like AT&T.

At Disney, I only had trouble in the room in some hotels. If I was outside, it was fine. :)

DH and I both have IPhones and were just in WDW for 9 days. We had GREAT coverage!! Full bars! I even had coverage in most indoor attractions!:thumbsup2

I have had other cell companies over the years and in certain locations I didn't get a signal. We stayed at CSR and had to stand on the balcony to make and take calls. It wasn't with AT&T.

It's just funny to me because we have supposedly come so far with technology but in some instances we are right back where we started.

I have been with AT&T for years. I used to have a bad problem with coverage in Orlando period. That was only about 4 - 5 years ago. Now I have no problems at all - including inside some of the attractions. I am even able to use my air card to run internet on my laptop at the resorts.

:) DH uses his Iphone all the time...more than me...yeah strange. For some reason I loose calls all the time, especially if it gets to about the 5 minute mark. There are certain places in the house where I cannot use the phone. I never had that trouble with my other service. Here on the Coast we get great coverage with Cellular South. In fact I always had great coverage with them even out of state. Now I will be talking away, hear a beep and the Iphone quits. I am wanting a Droid because Cell South has those phones when our AT&T service is up. DH says he gets much better service than me.

AT&T has added several cell towers in the Orlando area in the last several years.

There are still a few blank spots...but there are far fewer than there were a few years ago.

I have had AT&T since it was Cingular and have never had cell phone issues here in NJ or at WDW. I'm not quite so sure where people are having problems. I've never had them.

I normally try to make notes of this stuff when I am in the parks and what I have found is that the BEST coverage is from Sprint/Nextel. This is due to the contractual obligation that Sprint/Nextel has to Disney. 10 years ago Nextel purchased WDW's radio frequencies so that Nextel could expand it's footprint in Central Florida. As part of that agreement, Nextel would provide Push-to-talk and cellular service to the WDW resort. This included signal enchantments in all areas of WDW. Most of the towers are hidden as trees along with Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA's) in most internal areas of the parks (especially the utilidors).

ATT has "OK" coverage. There is a big dead spot near France in the World Showcase and 3G coverage is sporadic in the resorts. I have not had a verizon phone in the parks in years so their coverage might have improved.

Unless WDW has signed an agreement with other providers to allow them to share tower space somewhere on property, most coverage is going to be from the "outside, looking in."

The only times I can remember having issues would be in attractions with a lot of metal like Space Mountain. I haven't had any issues at resorts though.

I haven't come across a problem when using AT&T's service and i'm constantly on my phone. Even when visiting Disney world.

Did someone need Sim cards. ATT does give Enterprise customers blank, unaffiliated SIM cards. The problem you will run into is that ATT wants a device associated to the SIM.

I used my iPhone on our last trip and had no issues. We were at CBR, AK villas and Magic Kingdom. Great reception at those 3 places.
