For those of you have have AT&T Cell phones here is a way you may be able to save some money.

A few months ago they came out with a Unlimited Cell to Cell and free text messaging add on for $30. This is a shared package.

Basically I was paying $30 a month for the shared messaging package and than had the 1400 minute family plan.

Since now all mobile to mobile is free I switched to the 700 month family plan saving $20 and changed the $30 unlimted messaging to the $30 unlimited messaging and texting.

Hope this can help someone out:thumbsup2

That's interesting. We have always had unlimited free cell to cell (as long as it was other AT&T phones - everybody we know has AT&T so it works well for us). We pay $20 for unlimited texting for our family plan (we have 5 phone lines). We can also get internet for $10 per phone. Maybe it's just the particular family plan we have.

yes, I had free also to any other at&t user but have a bunch of friends on verizon. I added them to my "A-list" so those calls would be free also. There are always those random people and friends of my kids who were out of network.

Mine has always been $30 for the family plan messaging. We have had as high as the 2100 month family plan. Also $10 per line for data. I have that on 2 out of the 4 phone line

Yes, they always offered free mobile to mobile on AT&T but now they have free mobile to ANY mobile (any carrier). It allowed us to add my husband to my plan (we now have 3 phones) and still be able to share only 700 minutes. It's great! $165 for two iphones and a regular cell phone for my mom.

I think it's just the area we're in that literally everybody I know has AT&T. We did recently get the Verizon MiFi and LOVE it, and DH did comment that if the wifi was that good maybe we should check out their cell phones, but it looks like we're still better off where we are right now. Good to know that there are options though. :)

Not all plans qualify for this.

Make sure you call AT&T to find out. I have the old 850 minutes for 59.99... but it has to be attached to a plan $60 or more...yup...that 1¢ disqualifies me.

In order for me to switch plans...I lose all my rollover minutes. My kids save up the minutes through the year to use during summer....so I can't switch plans until september. Well, I could. But I don't think it would be fair to the kids.

How did you get the data for so cheap?! 3 of us have iphones with data plans and we pay much more than that! What can I do to get that down? We have a family plan with 5 lines, unlimited texting/messaging. We tried dropping down to 700 when the new cell to cell free thing came out but I just had to increase back to 1400. I was using too many land line mins for work.

Yeah, I lost around 3000 rollovers but we never went over so I was losing some every month. Sounds like your better off staying with the 850 for 59.99 vs my 700 for 69.99 as long as you dont go over your rollovers.

The blackberry and iPhone plans are different than the other data plans. We have 3 iPhones and 2 other phones..... we have the $10 unlimited data on the kids phones (they are the pantech pursuit)

Lisa...we haven't gone over our rollovers....but my kids are now getting older(12 and 15)...and I know they will want to use the phones more often, we also don't have a landline...just the cell phones.
I still think this is a GREAT deal... I am just jealous I can't utilize it yet :lmao:

a side not about att: if i reduce my minutes package with att, do i lose my rollover minutes?? thanks...

you go down to as many minutes as your new plan has- I had 2500 rollover minutes but went down to a 700 minute plan so I lost all but 700 of those minutes- but it didn't matter since I went to the unlimited mobil to any mobile plan so I only use like 100 minutes a month now when I call landline type phones!
