We are at SSR...1st time. Its a very nice resort. Very quite. This wil be a bustling resort but still quite once its sold out and full.

Hi Tammy -- we're in 1234 @ SSR, right now also -- but leaving for home (the Canadian one -- that is) in the morning. :sad2:

We love this place -- it's been a great week.

Hey RC

Sorry we missed you. Its always fun meeting other DISers. Hope you had a safe trip home.

I stayed at Saratoga, my big complaint is why does it cost so much to hook up to Broadband. Disney charges a months fee for one day. Too greedy.

No questions. Hope you enjoy your vacation. Susan

$9.95 is a very standard broadband fee for a resort hotel. Sure, I wish it was cheaper (or free for members!)...but I don't think the fee is over the top at all. Go to almost any other full service resort and you will find the same thing.

Hi....we will be at SSR on 1/23 to 1/27...DH, 2 DD's and myself in a 1 bedroom and my in-laws in a studio. My question is, is it to far to walk to DTD with a five year old?

The cost is the same at all resorts and, as kweaver pointed out, that price is now pretty standard at hotels across the country that charge for Internet access. Incidentally, Disney farms-out the Internet services, so technically it isn't their price--it's the price of the vendor that won the contract to provide the service.

I usually just revert to dial-up during trips, unless some business need would require purchasing the broadband for a specific project (in which case my employer can reimburse the fees.) My DSL provider supplies free nationwide dial-up access, so I didn't have to pay a dime for Internet during my last trip. If all else fails, grab an AOL or MSN starter kit and get the free service during your stay.

I can help you with that since TammyNC is probably out having fun.

It depends on which building you are staying in. From the closest building to Downtown Disney, you should be able to make the walk to the Marketplace in just 5-6 minutes. From the furthest building, it will probably take closer to 15 minutes door-to-door. We stayed in the second-furthest building and it took exactly 12 minutes to walk from DD to the room to our unit. It is a very easy walk to make.

If you have any questions about the location of the walking path, ask the CM to mark it on your map at check-in.

Have fun!

Just returned home to cold and icy Canada after a hot week at SSR. We stayed in the building closest to DTD and it took us less than 5 minutes to walk to DTD with 5 year old DD in tow. The walk home with a goblet of vanilla ice cream from Ghirardelli's was much longer, however.

Tammy,

Glad you are having a good time!! Thanks for posting!!

I have to work while I am away and my air card is still a little slower than I can handle for work. I am willing to pay the charge so I can get my work finished and out to the park faster.

I used my air card while at CBR since they didn't have high-speed there and I was glad to get to SSR to work faster.

I plugged into the High Speed Internet Access for one day -- with the intended purpose of doing the online check-in with Southwest. Well, getting those three A passes took all of two minutes at 12:01am and I had lots more time to use. I spent my time wisely -- downloading all the free software updates that I have been reluctant to do on my dial-up connection at home. Nice to have Eudora, RealPlayer and Adobe updated.

Royal - Hope you had a great trip! We stopped by to look around "home" when we got there on the 3rd. Can't wait to stay there in September! Hope you had a great time with no time to think about work or all of the duties that waited for you on your desk when you got home!
