At SSR now and guess what I saw?

Ok...........this thread is really freaking me out!:scared1: If I EVER saw one of any of the things that people have posted pictures of outside of my door, I would pee my pants!!!

I'm impressed! Most folks have never heard of the chupacabra. We have "possible" reports of them every few years here in TX.

If you have kids, and they like Scooby Doo, then you know what a chupacabra is

I've seen bobcats there...

Sounds like a Lynx to me.... :scared1:
I'll be staying at SSR in October hopefully they will be hibernating by then!:rotfl:

Once while staying at GF we saw a black bob tailed cat. The staff said there were several sightings of these large cats around WDW.

I just saw the same cat at SSR! It was definitely a bobcat. Grey speckled in color - bob tail - high back legs - prominent night eye on ears.

Saw him/her early am Sunday on the walkway in the Springs section. Morning light rain. It allowed me to almost walk right up to it as it did not hear or see me approaching. As soon as I said "kitty, kitty", it ran as fast and wild as it could to get out of there. :confused3

I would estimate this cat to be approx 30lbs - very cool sighting! :cool1:

I think it may have been an otter - we saw a whole family in the lake just outside our room at the Grandstand.

Hi, There is another post that I read yesterday (somewhere??) I will try to find it, it has a pic of a bobcat that was sited on Disney property recently. Joan

Am I missing something? How were you not scared? If we are talking real bobcat, do they not attack? I am bringing my 18 month old son to SSR and am getting a little afraid of him walking into a bobcat?

:scared1:OMG:scared1: Did you know it was a bobcat?? I got goose bumps when I read that you walked up to it! We have bobcats and mountain lions around here and they are to be feared:scared:.

To the OP did you report your what you saw to the front desk? I would hate for some kiddos to run out to the playground and run into that.

Hi I am original OP. I started this post a week ago from today because I was concerned too...I did not know what I saw and whether it was dangerous....a few answered me with some suggestions but then the posters started to make fun of me and what I saw insunuating that I was drunk or made the story up or is was just a cat....so figured it was not all that important... what I worried about too was that I was near the playgound too. But no one seemed in these last 4 pages to think it was all that important.:confused3

:rotfl:I guess I should pay closer attention to dates;). Anyhow, I was interested as I and my children often wonder around the resorts and if I or someone else saw a potentially dangerous animal I would hope that it would be reported so that it could be relocated. Prior to DVC I was often out and about late at night going back and forth between the laundry room and our hotel room alone and if I saw anything larger than a rabbit I would have pee'd myself:lmao:.

Oh, c'mon, lighten up.

Lots of people (including me) posted about bobcats and how common they are down there. I'm fairly sure bobcats are not apex predators and they don't usually eat kids...

We stayed in the Springs section a couple of weeks ago. We saw a couple of otters (looked like the one in Mickeyfollower's picture) in the water just behind the Springs bus stop. The were in the grass area on the sides of the water, didn't see them go any farther up the sides.

I would rather hope your spotting is an otter and not a bobcat/jaguar type of critter. Wouldn't want to meet up with that on an evening stroll.

Our last stay was at SSR, and we have also stayed at ASM. To think of all the times we came back to the resorts at 2, 3, and 4am from staying at the parks till closing! :scared:
We go in july when after hours is sometimes until 3am.

Ok, all you worry warts, I just googled "do bobcats eat people?"

and here's your answer:

http://pelotes.jea.com/bobcat.htm

You can click on the link to read the long answer but the short one is, chill, they don't!

There's enough to worry about in the real world, let's not make stuff up to worry about in Disney, shall we???:thumbsup2

I was in my room on 1st floor, it was like 8 AM (light) and rainy...and it was walking along the row of shrubs in front of room, I think it was looking for a rabbit, since we had seen many of them(rabbits) thru out the trip, when it got down to the path it walked along that looking in the shrubs until someone came along and it headed to the playground...the passerby took a picture?
