At SSR now and a bit Disappoint

Hi,
Currently staying at SSR for 14 nights and after a few day took our first trip over to paddocks pool only to find out the kids splash area is closed due to a new pump being needed! We were told by lifeguard it's been out of action for last two weeks and will be a couple more before fixed. We weren't informed at checkin, there was nothing on the weekly schedule, there isn't even a sign up in the area itself! One of the biggest reasons we stay at SSR is for this playarea it the one time we can relax as out children 7 and 8 can run around, they can really get out and the is no serious risk of drowning, in the other pools one of us has got a constant eye on them. Even though they can both swim the pools get busy and I worry. To make matters worse when I asked is there any other resort that has similar area ( slides, nets etc) I was told grand Floridian has one but currently the only place SSR can pool hop is with key west every other resort is off limits, is this a new thing?
Sorry to rant it's just disappointing for us and kids - mentioned it to front desk they weren't really interested is there anyone else I can complain too ?

Pool Hopping Information

When staying on your Membership at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, or Disney's Vero Beach Resort,you and any Guests staying with you are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a host or hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit before you go to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your Magic Band or current Key to the World card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, you and any Guests staying with you may not pool hop during the following dates*:
February 16 - 23 (Sun-Sat)
April 12 - April 26 (Sat - Sat)
May 23 - 26 (Fri - Mon)
June 28 - July 7 (Sat - Mon)
August 29 - September 1 (Fri - Mon)
November 24 - 29 (Mon - Sat)
Dec 20, 2014 - Jan. 4, 2015 (Sat - Sun)

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

I don't see where GF is excluded.

I always wondered about the pool-hopping rules at the Grand Floridian. The sign at the pool is confusing how it says it is for the exclusive use of Grand Floridian guests only. I could see how people could be confused if it is indeed included in the pool-hopping privileges.

My kids really enjoy the water play area at Caribbean Beach. You might give that one a try. It is very well themed and keeps them busy for hours.

The pool at PO-RS (old DL) has a very good play area for the kids. It is not a wet play area.
Another option for a splash pad is the big one at DTD.

GF's area is more similar to the one at SSR. But AKL-Kidani also has a nice splash pad area. I think Kidani's pool is excluded from pool hopping, but this is a separate area and I've never seen more than a handful of kids playing there. Also, even if GF was excluded from pool hopping, as you were told, they should make an exception in this instance since the SSR area is unavailable!

Go over to the Grandstand area at SSR they have a splash pad area. Its huge.

That area is part of the pool. It's inside the gated pool area so it should count as part of the no pool hopping. I wouldn't want anyone to travel all the way over there and be disappointed.

The kids area at the Grandstand pool is very popular. This is why we love the Grandstand area...all the little ones are down in the Splash Pad area and the pool is empty. It is a phenomenal addition to this area of SSR.
As for the GF....I also do not see why you can not pool hop there. It is not included on the list of pools and if the dates don't coincide with the blackout dates....go explore and have a fun day. We have pool hopped and never ever had a problem. Wear your magic band and I always carry my DVC card and License so no worries for ID.

I agree to try Grandstand splash--plus there is a hottub right there. I used to sit in the hottub while I watched my 7-8 yr olds.
