I'm currently at Pop and while checking in, requested to be in the 70's building close to Century Hall. The super nice CM did just that and I'm on the 4th floor, facing the lake with maybe a 2 minute walk to the lobby.
I didn't notice the construction noise last night, but they started working at 6:30am. I heard the "beep, beep, beep" of trucks backing up, but it's reasonably faint with the door shut. I was able to roll over and go back to sleep. It's quite loud when outside the room, but that's not a big deal.
At 8:30 this morning, construction work started in an area just below my room, in between the 60's building and the '70's building. The area is fenced off with green fencing and last night in the dark, I couldn't see what they were doing. Will have to check it out this morning from the top of the stairs. I'm hearing what sounds like a loud generator or big truck running at various rpm's, so the sound goes up and down in intensity. It's loud, really loud. I'm relieved that they waited until 8:30 to start working there.
One last noise issue, it's been about five years since I stayed at a non-DVC resort, so I know I'm spoiled by staying in quiet Villas. I'm not used to hearing the noises coming from other people's rooms. The plumbing is so loud! I heard toilets flushing and showers running all night long. I'm on the top floor, so I can only imagine it would be even worse for those on low floors. The people next to me came home at 2am and let everyone in the building know what a great time they had as they entered their room. I couldn't exactly hear what they were saying once they were in their room, but I certainly knew they were talking until close to 3:30. At 4:00am, the people on the others side of me, woke up to their buzzing alarm clock and hit snooze a couple times before finally getting up. They left for the airport at 5:00 and clunked their luggage down the stairs.
I get that rude people can be at any hotel, but the thin walls don't block much noise from other rooms.
I'm enjoying the theming of Pop and the Food Court has to be the best on property. The beef and blue sandwich is delicious! However, the noise level does take some getting used to. I recommend a room away from the lake construction and not facing the space between the 70's or 60's building. Nothi g to be done about the plumbing noise though.

) I have been able to hear people outside on the sidewalk rolling luggage, shouting etc, but not between rooms. We have had connecting rooms both trips, so the weak point for noise getting from one room to another(the door) has been shared which took away that issues.
