So sorry to hear this! You don't HAVE to stay anywhere one minute longer than YOU are willing to. Go to the front desk and speak with a manager ASAP! That is what I would have done immediately. I know many many people love POFQ but frankly we stayed there once for 3 nights in May 2006 and it was just short of falling apart. The food court was gross then, and I was grossed out back then. I know they have refurbed since then so it's awful to hear paying folks are still having these issues. We stayed at POR this past Feb and it was gorgeous. Loved it. You can switch resorts at any time you just have to stand up for yourself. Be nice, and firm and don't take no for an answer. Good luck!

Well, no, probably not. People rave about this resort.

Our first day hit a bump with a dirty room assigned to us... We had to be switched. It had scuff marks on the walls, thick dust behind the beds (and napkins stuffed down), and the grossest... droplets of red something or other on the carpet and yes, it looked like blood.

Switched rooms. Headed off to the foodcourt. I used to work in food handling so I notice stuff more than I should. The woman making my DD's sandwhich pulled frozen beef patties out of the freezer, put them on the grill, crumpled the paper they were on in her hand, wiped her hands on her SHIRT and picked up DD's food without washing her hands. I was so grossed out!!

Sorry, you are having such an unpleasant time at POFQ. We actually had the same experiences at POR...and I wanted to leave immediately. However, we ended up switching to a decent room at the managers suggestion.

So now we are going with POFQ. But I'm getting worried hearing about the recent issues like power outages...

I think the best thing about POFQ is the size. Had it been as larg as POR ppl wouldnt rave about it as much i think. I personally dont care for POFQ. Dont care for the decore, the food court, or the fact that there's only one bus stop. I like the fact that at POR bike/boat rentals are close by, a larger food court with more options, a TS restaurant, Yehaw bob, first boat pickup to DTD, grounds that are more lush and gorgeous (IMO), a longer pool slide (for those that like that sort of thing), i can go on and on. The rooms are so gorgeous too. Love that they've been newly renovated. Very pretty. I'd switch to POR if youre not happy. And DEFINITELY mention what you saw in the food court. Thats just disgusting. I wouldnt keep quiet about it. Good luck to you!

Hi OP! Just checking to see if they have moved you to another resort. Maybe they can move you to POR since they are sister resort. Sorry that your stay is not what you expected.

Ah huh......a trend is emerging. We stayed at POR this past January. We stopped by POFQ to hang out for a while and went by the food court. I was gobsmacked! Could not believe how dingy, gaudy and filthy the place was. The decor was an absolute nightmare. Like some cheap cafeteria in an old folks home, with an addition of frightening statues. The floors were hideous, walls were smeared with filth and dirty handprints. There was garbage on the floor. The place was an absolute disgrace. I was expecting Gordon Ramsay to walk into this kitchen Nightmare at any moment.

Stand up or yourself lady, you're paying for it. Tell them to move you to POR immediately!

Continued... so for the past 2 nights we've travelled to other resorts to eat our meals because I didn't even want to go back in the foodcourt. You may say over reaction but that's how I am. We ate at PORR (and saw how gorgeous it is) and Art of Animation.

So I guess between the dirty room and then the food handling issue I'm just not feeling the love. It may be an over reaction but you know what they say about first impressions!

Our room was dirty too. Bed sheets had black debris, toilet not clean. And there was a dirty towel hanging from the back of the bathroom door! We switched to Pop Century and got a $500 credit. It was so easy to do and they even gave us a cab voucher. It took 20 minutes, so easy! We did all this just yesterday.

Dust behind the bed? Who takes time to inspect behind the bed on vacation??? Good grief. I'm sorry but... It sounds like you are literally searching for things to be upset about. And obviously red droplets aren't blood. Blood would be brown. It's probably a tiny splattering of nail polish.

To me a dirty room is one that hasn't been vacuumed, has a tub that clearly hasn't been scrubbed, hasn't been restocked on towels, etc. that has happened to me before. Not at Disney, thankfully. If a little dust can ruin your vacation, well, I just kinda feel sorry for you.

Sorry, I disagree. You pay premium prices at WDW, you should expect a well maintained room. When we arrive we inspect our room. Behind and underneath the bed. Why? Bed bugs. If you don't care enough to look for these critters and brig them home, enjoy.

I was inspecting our room at ASMovies only to find a spilled soda can behind the bed, with maggots crawling about. I won't accept that at home, surely I won't accept it in a room I'm renting for a vacation.

A dusty room and droplets or whatever on the carpet are unacceptable. They're both signs of very poor hygiene standards on the part of mouse keepers and evidence that the place is NOT being cleaned properly.

I would ask to speak to the manager and tell him/her that you would like to change resorts. It really shouldn't be a problem. Just be real nice about it. I've stayed at Pop 7 times, and when we were there last November, there were new mattresses. My daughter-in-law couldn't sleep on the beds since they were now so hard. Her back really hurt and I thougt the beds were so hard also. I wanted to changed resorts after 2 nights, so after making a few phone calls, they upgraded us for free to AKL. Even took us by taxi for free over to AKL. I couldn't believe it!! I couldn't stop thanking the manager enough. I hope you find a new resort to stay at so that you have a great trip!!!

We had a dirty room 2 years in a row and haven't been back since. I thought after the renovations most of the issues would be resolved. But I guess the housekeeping is still a hit or miss.

Stayed at POFQ several years back and not impressed. Resort appeared seedy and room lacked "Love", worn furniture and stained floors and walls. Grubby feeling. DH said never again to a moderate. Our one night at CSR wasn't much better, I feel that maybe the moderates just aren't given enough TLC by mousekeeping for some reason....

We love POFQ. We will be staying there again next time we visit too.
I think you can have a bad experience any where you stay. It's up to you to make the most of your holiday or dwell on what's happened.

Interesting - the only time we ever got a dirty room @ WDW was in 2009 @ POFQ - unmade beds, food left over from previous occupants, etc.. They moved us to another room. @ the time I thought, glitches happen - seems perhaps they happen more often @ POFQ.

Beneath the headboard there is a space between the bed frame and the wall. If you're concerned about the cleanliness of the beds your wife and children will be sleeping in, you do a thorough inspection, to include checking for bed bugs. The easiest way to find them is to check the perimeter of the mattress (learned this from DISboards).

Im sorry you're in disbelief, but there actually are instances of unclean room in hotels, including our beloved WDW.

People can be quite unclean. I like to make sure that the filth of others is gone from the room when I check in. If you're unconcerned that's your business, but why you choose to doubt or scoff at others who are concerned is beyond me.

Go to the front desk, talk to the manager, NICELY, and ask to be moved. They WILL move you.

We have been moved 2x. In 2006 we were unhappy at Pop and they moved us to CSR.

Last month we were unhappy at CSR and ASKED to be moved to Pop (no availability due to Labor Day and I really did not want to chance getting to another resort where we were unhappy (we know we love Pop!)), and they moved us to a suite on the other side of CSR.

Go. Go now. A little inconvenience in moving (repacking, moving, unpacking) will keep the last 7 days of your trip happy.

I agree with Gigi1313!! Go over to the front desk of POR and tell them how you feel!! THey willl switch you!! I had a similiar experience at WL and went to the front desk and was switched to CR!!! Dont just grin and bare it, you have spent alot of money and need to feel comfortable!!

Any of this can happen anywhere, any hotel. However, it is unacceptable and one needs to speak up an asked to be moved.

I can attest to the fact that my DS was staying at ASSp for a school trip. He was there from Wednesday until Sunday. On Friday he became very sick with a stomach bug to the point of both ends He vomited into the bathroom trash can while on the toilet. Sorry for being graphic. Mind you this was Friday. Saturday he was out of the room, mouse keeping came but never took care of the trash can. It was still there when he left Sunday. Yes, he should have something but he was a kid but it doesn't make the situation right...the trash an should have been dealt with. Yes, it is disgusting and if we were there we would have dealt with the situation. However, these were all kids on a trip and am sure he didn't say anything to one of his chaperones.
