We arrived at OKW yesterday (5/14). The CM that checked us in was great. We booked a 2 BR lock off; he gave us a choice of several rooms that were ready but he also looked to see if there were any non lockoffs that might be available since we really didn't care which type we have. We took the 2 BR lockoff in building 45. We can sit on the balcony and watch the boats going to SSR. A couple of pictures I took early this morning from the balcony:

We've been members since '94....usually stay at OKW at least once a year, but due to some bad luck, we haven't been down here in 3 years. I was a little concerned about some of the housekeeping and maintenance problems I've been reading about, but I'm happy to say everything is great. My only complaint is....hmmm.....I can't think of a single thing! Not even one burned out bulb. :)

The weather is fantastic today. We drove down and were very concerned about the smoke. We stopped in Tallahassee Sunday night; the conditions there were horrible. Monday morning was even worse. My daughter & I both have asthma, so we weren't sure if we should continue on to Orlando or turn around and head home. We decided to keep going, but since I-10 was closed west of Lake City, so we drove down Hwy 19/27 to Ocala. The smoke was really bad until about halfway to Ocala. The closer we got to Ocala, the less we were able to see or smell it. By the time we got to the Orlando area, it was completely gone. Last night was beautiful....cool, clear & breezy. Today was pretty much the same.

We went to Epcot yesterday evening to see Davy Jones. As my 19 yr. old daughter said, "he looks pretty good for an old guy." Today we went to Animal Kingdom. It wasn't too crowded...we were able to see & do everything we wanted without much of a wait.

We'll be here until 5/23; I'll try to post again in a day or so.

Hey, we were at AK today too! I too was pleasantly surprised that the air quality hasn't caused me any real problems. I have been awfully dry today, but so far so good on the asthma. Hope we get to "run into each other" along the way!

Not even one complaint? We were there last month, and we had a complaint! It was that they actually expected us to pay for the Sultry Seahorses at Gurgling Suitcase.:rotfl:
Honestly, I'm glad you're having a great time-with those views, I can see why- Beautiful!

I need one of those Sultry Seahorses to drink while I'm enjoying the view. If I wasn't so exhausted, I'd walk over there tonight to get one. We'll be here for another week, so I've got plenty of time.

I've added some pictures from AK and MGM. Tomorrow I'm planning to walk around OKW to take a few more pictures.

Hi Shadeaux!

This thread seems like an OKW old-timers reunion! Just wish I was down there, too.

Have fun for me.

Pam

Beautiful pictures, I enjoyed the slideshow. Thank you.

I still haven't gotten around to walking around OKW to take pictures, but I did add a few pictures from today's visit to the MK.

There are a few ducks that walk past the balcony every morning. They stop, look to see if we're going to feed them, then they move on to the next building. They repeat this in the late afternoon. Really funny.

I said I didn't have any complaints about OKW...I did think of one little complaint: the darn beds are too high. I'm only 5'1"....I told my husband next time to remind me to bring a stepstool to get in & out of bed. :rotfl:

Thanks for the great photos. Can't wait for our short trip to WDW in Aug and long trip in Oct.

Glad to see someone else takes Disney flowers also! I have lots of those kinds of pics. It is so much fun taking pics with digital cameras. You hardly ever mess up!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

That one red flower is right off our balcony. I've been taking pictures as it opened over the last couple days. Digital cameras are my weakness....I'm embarrassed to admit I've owned 7 in the last 7 years.
