Hi we are currently at OKW and supposed to fly in to buffalo tomorrow just heard interstate closed. No availability on property anywhere to stay an extra night. any suggestions? anyone know about the situation in buffalo? our car is at airport and need to get to niagara falls ontario. need a place to stay tomorrow night but apparently no availability on property for dvc.?

Our local CBS affliliate, WRAL in Raleigh, flew in a meteorologist to Buffalo today and he broadcast live from there tonight on the news. I know it's bad up there but apparently the airport is open and servicing the flying public. Something's passable because he got downtown somehow.

He's a big snow guy so it was mostly as a local joke. We don't get storms like that around here, obviously.

I'd call someone local. I know it's bad but it's apparently somewhat under control. Are you saying your flight is cancelled or you're worried that your flight might be cancelled?

my flight is not cancelled but from what I read the roads are closed due to a driving ban. my truck is in but airport but I live in canada. called someone from canada and they do not know situation in buffalo. if I can't drive from airport to home no point in flying to buffalo tomorrow. freakin out a bit urggg

I'm sure i can find a cash room but would rather not pay OOP if I can help it. anyone know the driving situation in Buffalo?

They JUST did a live remote from there on WRAL and I swear the roads behind the talent looked very passable. I certainly can't speak to the conditions there, but if the roads in town are clear, surely the interstates have been cleared.

thanks Wilson. The pictures I see look clear but I keep reading that the mayor of buffalo is reminding residents that the driving ban is in affect. I think we will take our chances and go home. If i could have a got a room without packing and moving I WOULD HAVE JUST STAYED AN EXTRA NIGHT. DIGGING OUT OUR truck at 10 pm will suck but the vacation was awesome!

The real heavy snow was south and east of the airport in places like Wales Center and Lancaster where upwards of 7 feet of snow fell. In comparison the airport received 14 inches of snow. So I would think if you are heading N and W from the airport you should be OK.

I also believe it is supposed to warm up into the 40's tomorrow and the real threat will be the flooding from the snow melt.

Could you look for a room at or near the Buffalo airport with a shuttle and then dig your car out in the morning?

I did that one time coming home late at night from a business trip and the roads were bad. By morning everything was clear.

I bet u can find a place at one of the DTD Resorts . I like the best western when I need just one extra day .
