We got here on Saturday and spent yesterday walking the beach and out by the pool. The weather was really nice. Then the thunderstorms rolled in, and the forecast for the rest of the week is pretty bad - rain, thunderstorms, and cool weather for the rest of this week, so no more pool time. The high is only going to be 57 today with an overcast sky.

Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas of things to do in the area that aren't weather dependent. We will definitely be doing some shopping (outlet stores and some of the other shops), and we're planning on going to Savannah tomorrow when they're calling for some sun in the morning and only a 30 percent chance of showers with highs in the low 60's.

Anyone have any suggestions of things to do? I can only stay in the room and read and relax but so long!

Other than the weather we're having a nice time. We're in a studio, and it's in really good shape.

You can always catch a few movies or hit as many new restaurants as your budget will allow. You can do day trips to Savannah or Charleston, although the weather would probably be similar so you would need to plan accordingly.

If you like military stuff nearby Beaufort is home to Parris Island (Marine training base) and they have tours and graduation ceremony's open to the public. If you want to continue the military theme then Charleston is also home to Patriot's Point, a naval museum housing the WWII carrier Yorktown (http://www.patriotspoint.org/exhibits/yorktown/) and other vessels. The Congressional Medal of Honor Museum is located on board the Yorktown.

I can understand your dilema-on one trip to HH in February, it rained all week. DH had no problem sitting in front of ESPN all week, while I spent lots of time in Big Murgie's Den, reading "The Island Packet" and sipping hot apple cider. However, I felt bad for people with children. I remember talking to Scott, of Scott's Dolphin tours, who said that he's gotten phone calls from parents so desperate they said "I don't care if we don't see any dolphins, but PLEASE take us out in your boat!" The only place I can think of to go is the Visitor's Center, on the right on 278, from the resort, near mile marker 1 or 2.
Just curious, which studio are you staying in? I hope that, since you're in there a lot, it has a nice view!

We're in the main lodge building and have a nice view of the marsh. It was too cold to sit out there today, though. We finally went to WalMart and got a puzzle and are working on that. I've already managed to hit Big Murgie's Den, sip cider, eat a cookie, play checkers and play pool today in addition to some shopping at the outlets. We also watched a movie, took a short walk on the beach, and ate lunch at One Hot Mama's. I think I need to take a page out of your husband's book, but I don't sit still very well.

Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather tomorrow when I go to Savannah!

Do every activities indoor that Blu'Crabbe does. Beach House is a nice indoor place with games. There is a tourist book "101 Things to do in HH"...find that....go to Harold's to eat. Play pool in Big Murgies Den...pingpong...rent free movies....there is also a Red Box at a few locations. Eat slowly at all the yummy restaurants.

Put on your blue jeans and sweatshirts and sit at the pool.....and read...unless you live down south the weather is still better if it isn't raining.

We are here to, but did not check in until Sunday, so we have had no good weather. It is not looking promising the rest of week either. Yesterday we went to Harbour Town, it is worth going if you have never been. Ate at Salty Dog, a must if you like Sea food. Last night ate at Santa Fe, I highly recommend, and it is very close to resort. Order first soup listed on menu, I cannot remember name of it, but it is a must see, it tastes good too. I think today we are going on a alligator tour. Good luck and let us know if you find anything interesting to do.

Come over to Savannah. It's MUCH warmer. (OK OK I Lie. It's just as cold here)

There is a War of 1812 Sloop (replica) in the harbor that you can visit. And the Music Festival is going on too.

Sorry about the weather. I am loving it myself as I work in a building with no windows and poor ventalation and, right now, no A/C or heat. It's 81 up here now and I am loving it. Last week it was 87 and we had to close down.
