Astrud Gilberto dies at age 83

Astrud Gilberto the voice behind such Bossa Nova hits such as So Nice "Summer Samba" and her many hits died today at age 83. I love Astrud's voice and the way she transforms oldies covers into relaxing hits is so wonderful and soothing and her daughter Bebel Gilberto also has a wonderful voice to match and when I first heard Astrud's version of So Nice "Summer Samba" I was swept away by her soothing sound. Other songs she did was Call Me which was a hit for Chris Montez and Fly Me To The Moon. And Polish pop singer Basia did a song about her called Astrud on her 1987 debut album Time And Tide. I highly suggest you buy an Astrud Gilberto album to honor this marvelous singer and see how great her talent was

I first discovered Astrud Gilberto through the song So Nice "Summer Samba and I was enchanted by her voice and I was listening to music in the morning on my TV through the Amazon Music app and my mom noticed I was playing Astrud Gilberto and she liked her music and wanted me to play some more and so I found more of her albums and liked them too. Her daughter Bebel Gilberto is also a wonderful singer and I think she will now follow in Astrud's footsteps well carrying on her mother's legacy as well. And Bebel also sings Summer Samba wonderfully on her self-titled album and I highly recommend hearing Bebel's version too
