I am booked at ASSports for FD, they only had standard now I see preferred is available, as well as other resorts, which happened last year, they opened more rooms up. It is just me and my son, 8 who loves sports. I was trying to keep the costs down, but thought if I could avoid renting a car this trip that would help. The problem is getting to our ADR's, I know how to get to each resort and the quickest way etc.... Have been going to WDW the last 7 years, anyways, I thought it would be easier to stay in a monorail resort the first 3-4 nights to make it easier for some of our meals. Is it really worth it though to spend almost $2500 more to split the package? It would be cheaper in the long run to just rent the car, but we also want to go to US for one day and go and play mini golf, I know if worse comes to worse we can walk to golf from ASSports. We had a horrible problem with this a few years ago when we were at ASMovies, no buse ever showed up at BB because of it being closed even though we were told they would so we walked, no big deal not that far However I am a light sleeper and after being a Mods and Deluxe resorts the past few years I am having doubts. I keep checking the WDW page for the resorts that are open. I love the food courts in the All Star resorts. SO.....why do I keep doing this.
Sorry for the long post.

I would spend the extra on a car with the ADRs that you have planned unless you allow plenty of extra time for the bus - but you will need a car to get to US. Check with Budget Rent A Car - I was able to rent a car last year for about $150 for the week. Or Alamo has a site on Disney property and you can rent a car for just 1 day if you want....

You are "upselling" yourself. Just stick with what you have. A 7-year old who loves sports? Home Run, Mom! If your ADRs are hard to get to ... change them. I stayed at POP 2 years ago during free dining and we took a cab to dinner once. Otherwise, we were able to take Disney transport everywhere. Also ... you CAN NOT walk from the mini golf all the way to All Stars. There are no sidewalks! If worse came to worse, you could take the bus to the Swan and then walk across the street.

If you really feel the need to add a car, then go over to the transportation board. They have a lot of great deals!

Just keep what you have! It will be great! I agree with the PP... if you need to, just take a cab. I read that on here a few days ago and I don't know why I never thought of that before. :)

You can always rent a car if you feel it will be easier. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than changing rooms!

Just relax and have fun! He's going to love it (and more so if YOU are having fun too!). :)
