Assistance For Elderly

I am flying into MCO with my elderly parents. I am concerned the walk from the terminal to train may be too far for them. Who do I contact to arrange assistance for them? Do I contact the airline or the airport?

Contact the airline and they can provide wheelchairs at the gate when you get off the plane. They can also provide someone to push the chair since you can't push two wheelchairs.

I have done this several times for my parents. They usually fly SWA and I have had "require assistance" noted on their reservation. Thay are both in their 80's and my dad has difficulty walking long distances. They do curbside check-in and the porter always knows that my dad will need a wheelchair. It has always been a very smooth event.

Allow extra time at your departure airport for the chairs to arrive; it can sometimes take awhile. Also, at most airports this is a considered a tipped service.

Have you made any arrangements for them to get around once you're AT Walt Disney World? Because it's only a few hundred feet, maximum, from the gate to the tram - not NEARLY the distance they'll be traversing in/around the parks.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have contacted my airline. They said it will not be a problem and will have assistance waiting when we arrive. I'm not so concerned about my mom, but my dad is 81 and very head strong. They are both very active. They don't consider themselves seniors. It's a riot to hear them talk about the groups they go on bus trips with. You would think they are in their 30's! I don't see either one of them getting in a wheelchair, but at least one will be available if they need it. Thanks again!
