Assigned seats on AirTran?

I read that you can pay an extra $5 (per segment?) to get an assigned seat on AirTran, but I cannot figure out where that option in on the AirTran website.

I went through the whole online process all the way up to "pay" but want to figure out how to ensure we can get a seat assignment before going through with the payment.

Any tips?

Hi! I just booked our Airtran a few weeks ago. I ended up calling their customer service number (to book our seats) and they were very helpful. I was so happy to be able to book a seat! Good luck!

I booked Air Tran for our Sept. WDW trip and it allowed me pay $5 per segment to get our seats after I booked. If you buy the higher priced tickets you can pick your seats right away (I've done that before too) but this way I had to go back into the reservation by entering the confirmation code and then it allowed me to purchase advance seat assignments.

Hi, we just did this last night booking our tix for Jersey Week!

You choose the flights, and then there is an option on the bottom of the screen to "Choose your seats" or simply "Done." If you click "Choose seats" the next screen is a map of the airplane--you can click on the seats you want, and it's $5 per seat, woo hoo!!!!!

I booked in Feb, but I added a few weeks ago the seats. Cost me a extra 50.00 but I know it will be worth it with kids..

When you're checking price selections you'll see a picture of a seat to the left of the prices. Click on that and it will show you the seats that are available to reserve.

I reserved the seats because of the kids and also DH likes me to sit in the row in front of him(we split up each takes a kid, I will not torment a whole plane load of people with the 10 yr old whining about the 6 yr old touching, bothering, looking at him or someone got hosed by not getting the window seat),

If I sit in front of DH, who's 6'4" he knows I won't put the seat back and he'll have enough leg room for 2.5 hrs. Now it's a different story if he's the pain going through security .

For me it was $40 well spent.
