ASMu standard room?

What can I expect as far as the walk for a standard view at ASMu standard room to the food court, buses, etc? I've been looking for info, however can't really seem to find much. I have subscribed to the thread for ASMu, but not a lot of activity on there.

I wish I was more knowlegable but we stayed for one night on our last trip.

Our standard room seemed very far from everything and it was not the farthest out. I am thinking that preferred is the way to go if we stay again.

I loved the theme of the resort but didn't care for waiting in the hot sun at their bus stop.

Haven't stayed there (yet) but I did tour on one of my previous trips and liked ASMU best of all the Values. What I liked is that the property has a lot of greenery and had a more relaxing feel (at least to me). The standard rooms aren't really that much farther from the lobby, and I liked the Broadway and Cowboy section best (which I think is called Country Fair). Either of these locations could be good with a car rental, since they are nearer the parking lot. I think the walk is 5 minutes tops, to get from Country Fair to the lobby/food court - which is fairly close. Heck I stayed at the Poly and to get to from the car to my room in the Hawaii bldg took nearly 10 minutes and that was a prime building - not one on the outskirts. If you want to be closer than a 5 min walk - then go preferred.

The furthest back we have stayed is the Jazz section and it wasn't a bad walk at all. That said, it at all possible I would pay for preferred

We stayed at the ASMu four years ago in the Broadway area. It was a long 10 minute walk to the Food Court and you had to walk thru the smking area. Yuck!

The resort was nice and clean all the time but we really prefer "Pop"

Music is set up like a basic tree.

The food court/ main building is the ground

Calypso (preferred) is the base of the trunk its 2 buildings surround the pool

After Calypso is Jazz (it's standard not preferred) so that's the upper part of the trunk of the tree. The branches are further out. Broadway to the left, County Fair furthest up the trunk and beyond the piano pool and Rock to the right of the basic trunk

We've been in Calypso (free upgrade), Broadway and Rock and the walk isn't bad from anywhere IMO.

If getting to the main building while paying for a standard room is important to you I'd recommend you request Jazz.

I have stayed in Jazz, Broadway, and Rock. I don't remember thinking any walk was particularly bad. I do remember thinking that the bus waiting area could be made much more comfortable in regards to shade and seating but it has been a while (and I was very pleased with the actual bus service from the resort).
