DH has to have emergency surgery on Monday. It is not life threatening, but it is going to cost, so we were thinking of really downsizing our fall WDW vacation.

We called CRO and ASMu is available for our dates. We are flying and not driving this time. Last fall we did ASMo for DH's first value ever. He liked it, but has turned into a WDW :snooty: ...and PREFERS to stay at the EPCOT resorts. We had a car last fall, so we drove everywhere except AKL. We like to be responsible for our own movement, thus the YC, BC, BWI love...walk to 2 parks!:thumbsup2

I was going to surprise him with AKL CL for two nights, and I already have the Sunrise Safari booked, but I think that is down the tubes now.

So, I think I want some reassurances that ASMu is going to be a great place for us to stay! It will be me, DH, and Little Sazzo(5). I am not worried, as you can see in my siggy, I have done ASSp many times. I just don't want DH to feel he ruined his own BDay trip!

Any experts out there who can help with my ASMu wonderings...photos, recent experiences, newly renovated room pictures, food court reviews...anything, please?:confused3

Thanks!:)

While I have no opinions cause I have never stayed...
Just well wishes for your DH:)
I think you will have a great time....I have seen photos and it looks great...plus they have those suites too:)

I hope all goes well for your DH.

DH and I stayed in a reburbished room at All Star Music last September.
We love the new look.

All Star Music is underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and according to mouseplanet the refubishment is complete.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

Please see my info thread For the reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

I have stayed in the values, moderates and deluxes. My resort stay is based upon my budget at the time, or if I am going solo (then I stay in a value resort)
I enjoyed my stay at the Allstar Music in 2005, the themeing is very nice and it seems to have more trees and shrubs than some of the other values.
The food court had nice selections and we were the second stop for the buses.
I actually like the ASMU better than the POP.

ASMu and Pop are my favorite values. I would have no issue staying there again especially now that the rooms have been refurbed. Go and have a great trip!

We stayed at ASMU last July. It was our first time staying on property and I thought it was great. I was all set to stay there this year too but DW wanted to try out a different resort. I'm sure your DH will like it just fine..hey it's Disney after all!

I hope the DH is doing fine..best of luck

Have a great trip!:wizard:

DisneyBride'03, Minnie61650, and Cruella's Hubby; thank you so for the well wishes for DH! I love the Dis!:thumbsup2

Minnie61650, thank you for the your link and all the info! You have helped greatly!:goodvibes

helenk, thank you for your opinions...they are helping!:)

G'smommy, thank you for the reminder that the rooms have been refurbed!:thumbsup2

Cruella's Hubby, thanks for your opinion too!

Update, DH woke up this morning and said, "Let's change it to ASMu...we're in WDW after all!" He is turning into a diser himself!

Another question...do you think we need to rent a car, or just do ME and bus service? I love your transportation time comparisons Minnie61650!:thumbsup2

I've stayed at all the values--more than once--and ASMusic is my fave. It has great themeing and landscaping that goes with the theming, not just the eye-popping icons. I even like it better than Pop as it os not so BIG and the noise level is lower.
We do ME and WDW transportation.

We were at ASMU for 10 nights in May/June this year and had a grand time. Our room was preferred so it was in the Calypso building which is right next to the food court and bus stops. The food court was great and the busses were excellent.

My only complaint was that we were facing the pool, on the end, and you could hear a LOT of pool noise. I should have requested to be on the back side facing the parking lot/trees for less noise. If you're going to be up past pool closing anyway, it probably wouldn't make any difference but we were usually in bed by 11 or so and it was after midnight before the noise died down.

Also, our room had a connecting door that we heard some conversations through several nights. After we got back I was reading about putting a rolled up towel by the door to eliminate the noise so that might work.

Hope you have a great trip. :goodvibes

It seems like 2 extremes..CRO vs ASM

why not compromise with a mod or even less expensive deluxes and you sure don't need concierge if you are willing to do all stars.

I don't think you need to make such extreme choices unless your budget is just that way

JennyDrake and samandryansmom...thanks for all your feed back! All of your ASMu scholars are really helpful!;)

jcpuppy.com...DH says, "If we are going to save, let's really save!" We have stayed at mods, and DH just does not like them. And $84 @ ASMu vs. $234 @ WL sv...that's $150 of eating fun @ CG for all of us! :lmao:

It is all about transportation for us! Either we walk and monorail it, or we just bus and drive it everywhere!

We were going to do AKL CL and BWI CL...CRO=Central Reservations. We just really enjoy CL relaxation and conversation, but you are right, we don't need it! ;)

I thought the transportation at the ASMU was fine, and since ME started I use ME. I have always used Disney's transportation and I really have no major complaints.
The ASMU was the second stop of the Allstar resorts, Sports was first then Music and then Movies. At night when the parks were closing each resort generally had its own bus,

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests have found that a fan or white noise machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.
