ASMo or POP?

We're in the process of booking a trip for next fall. The last time we went was in 2007 and we stayed at ASMo. I was going to book there again but I didn't like the bus situation there, how all the All-Stars share buses and especially at pickup in the morning it tended to be fairly crowded. I'm considering Pop Century because there isn't any bus-sharing. Any thoughts? We'll be there for a week.

Stayed at Pop this past July. I liked their bus service. Usually 20 minute or less wait. We did have two longer waits but there was some kind of accident lots of lights and sirens for one of the two long waits. The longer waits where returning to Pop never had a long wait leaving Pop. I also liked the line at Pop. We stayed at POFQ a couple years ago and there was no line just a free for all from the resort. I liked the lines so much at Pop I may not stay any where else in the future.

Neither one are my favorite as values are concern my ranking will go
AoA
ASM
ASSports
POP
ASMo the only Disney resort we will not go back to.

The All Stars no longer share buses during peak hours. In the middle of the day you may have bus sharing, but not in the morning or at park close.

If you want to go back there is a detail post I made with pictures of what happened. Basically terrible housekeeping and even worst costumer service. Hands down one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

Yes, I'll definitely take a look.

We started at Pop in 2013 and will be on our 5th trip there next week. We love it so much that it's hard to ever try anything else. I'll never try another value for sure, but maybe some time we'll try something like Port Orleans.

I would go to POP because I like the theming better and I like how POP is less crowded.

POP has around 1,000 more rooms than any of the All Stars so I don't see how it could be "less" crowded.

I prefer All Stars specifically because POP was so crowded and chaotic the time I stayed there. Even at the end of the night the food court was mobbed. Thank goodness I had a car and could go off site to get something to eat.

I stayed at ASMo in 2013 and ASMu in 2015. Going back to Music in a few weeks. Never "shared buses" in the a.m. going to theme parks nor in the evening returning. Yes mid-day, when there were only like a dozen people on the bus anyway.

Personally never had a bad location at ASMo or sports. Was way back in the Country of Music and the 90's at Pop. Far from everything.

From the layout of Movies those in Mighty Ducks section may be closer to food and transportation at Music. But if you are in Country at Music, you've got a haul

WE enjoy AS and POP, but if I had already stayed ASMo, then I would try POP for something new. It is fun to try different resorts. Pop has nice standard rooms with lovely lake views and you can walk across Generation Gap bridge to AoA for fun photo ops and their food court.

THIS!!!! As you can see in my signature, I have numerous stays at each of the values. Pop to me is by far the most hectic. The bus sharing for All Stars is WAY overstated and is no different than multiple stops within a moderate 9or even deluxe) resort. My fave value is Music as it tends to be a bit quieter than the others.

we've stayed at pop quite a few times and have had good luck with the buses thus far. we enjoy walking over to art of animation food court. we're staying at pop next time as well .we used to stay at moderates, specifically csr and pofq but i'd rather go for longer and more frequent stays. we got annual passes and now we go for 11 days which is so nice. i don't feel rushed and enjoy really exploring disney in a less rushed way. anyway, that's why we stay at pop now.

Based on the info you provided, I voted for POP preferred. I was going to vote for POfq, but it doesn't seem like you'll be in the resort enough to truly enjoy it. I personally wouldn't spend the extra money if it was just me. I hope you and your brother have a magical trip!!!

Which buildings at ASMo are standard and which are premium? My son would love the Dalmations or the Toy Story buildings.

I like both resorts, but Pop will always be my fave due to the beautiful lake and the close proximity to AoA. I love walking/browsing around and trying out the food court. Love the food, its quite unique! Here is a picture standing by the bridge at pop, looking across the lake towards AoA.

I agree with everything here. Especially the part about trying out a new resort. Thats always fun! :)

I think the Fantasia, Toy Story and 101 Dalmations sections are considered "preferred". The rest are standard. Upon checkin though, even if using express checkin, it doesnt hurt to see if any rooms are available in those sections. Doesnt hurt to ask. Sometimes youre sprinkled with some pixie dust. Its happened to me many times.
