I am new to the boards. A friend turned me on to them. My family is planning a short (2 day) visit to WDW. It will be 2 adults and one 5 year old. We plan to stay at a value resort. I've read all kinds of reviews and are considering the All Star Movie or the Pop Century. For those who have stayed at both, which do you prefer? I am considering the Dalmation building at ASM and the 50's building (Lakeside) at the PC. Anyone with room numbers or input, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :disrocks:

Welcome aboard! :wave2: I've never stayed at either of those resorts. But being that no one responded to you yet, I wanted you to have at least one!

We have stayed at both and personally I prefer ASMo. We just stayed at Pop 3 weeks ago and I wasn't that excited about it. That being said....everyone has their own personal opinion. I know that there are a lot of people who just rave about Pop, we just weren't that impressed. Probably because we are used to staying at ASMo. We usually stay in the Toy Story building and our Son was a little confused when we started walking towards our room at Pop and he didn't see Buzz and Woody. We would stay at Pop again if there weren't any rooms available at ASMo, but ASMo would be our first choice when it comes to the value resorts. Good luck with your decision and no matter what you choose....you will be at Disney!!! :cool1:

Definitely Pop Century because the buses are way better. You don't want to have to wait for a bus too long with a 5yr old!

I have stayed at ASMu, ASMo and Pop. We like Pop the best now, but if I was staying at a Value for the first time I would stay at Movies. It has more of a Disney feel than Pop. My favorite building at Movies is Buzz Lightyear. Favorite building at Pop is 70's Big Wheel. I think you'd be better off requesting a section of a building rather than a room number. For example, 4th floor or close to the foodcourt or lake view (Pop).

I vote for POP also, wouldnt go back to all stars after staying at pop. A plus is not sharing buses with the other All Stars also

One other benefit at Pop is it is actually a tad bit cheaper too (the taxes are lower there).

That said, we stayed at ASMo and it was great. We were in the Toy Story buildings and they were quiet, close to the main pool and the loby area. The dalmation building is about the same distance but has the added advantage of being close to both pools. I've heard that those buildings tend to have a lot of kids, and groups... so they can get pretty loud. The Mighty Ducks building is the location of the 2nd pool, which is usually less crowded. It is further from the ASMo lobby area and food courts, BUT it is pretty close to the ASMu food courts and bus stop. So, you could head over to ASMu to catch the bus and beat the lines at ASMo.

A note about the transport, I did not see that big of a problem with the bus sharing with the All-stars. Yes you are sharing with 2 other resorts, BUT they have more buses running. One night there were 2 All-stars buses loading up people and 1 more waiting to pull up to load more. Meanwhile at POP bus stop, the line was about the same size but only 1 bus there.

Overall, I think you'd be fine at either one.
